What's The Last Movie You’ve Seen?

Ok. What about the movie did you find to be "beyond pretentious?" Give me an example. Also, what was difficult to understand? I thought the narrative was pretty clear though the meaning is left up to the viewer.

The stubbornly obtuse direction mainly. IMO you can't just throw a bunch of **** at a wall and call it art. Thats what Enemy felt like. A bunch of **** and if someone doesn't "get it" thats too bad because it's my art. Which is fine, but it doesn't mean you aren't full of it.

Not trolling here but do you know what obtuse means? Again, please give me an example in the movie that was pretentious. How was the director being "stubbornly obtuse?" I'm always willing to talk about movies with folks but you need to be more specific.

Stupid or unintelligent. The director was being stupid in being abstract just for the sake of being abstract. Did you see Prisoners? It was entertaining and I liked it but it was soooo STUPID. Looking back after some of the plot holes were childish. So basically I don't think he's as smart as he thinks he is.

I'd like to give you some exact moments from Enemy but I watched it like a year ago and have been trying to erase it from my brain ever since so I dont have any details.

I was really excited to see Enemy and thought I'd love it and I didn't. I still heart Gyllenhall though.

I recently re-watched Basquiat which I always liked if just for Jeffrey Wright's role alone...and Bowie's Warhol. I think Wright's a very underrated actor and doesn't get the dap he deserves. Anyway, after re-watching the movie, I was talking to my buddy at work and he mentioned The Radiant Child which he had seen recently on cable.

The Radiant Child is a very insightful documentary that the movie Basquiat borrowed a lot of scenes from. Seeing it made me appreciate Wright's portrayal of Basquiat even more. He knocked that role out of the park. I still can't believe Basquiat was as young as he was. ****.

Came across this image...

Highest grossing film per year and it's corresponding RT rating.

I watched The Possession. It creeped me out a bit. I don't watch scary movies often since my wife refuses to watch them. So I watched one while she was at work.

Finally saw the first Hunger Games. I think it was actually a better movie before the Games started, then it was kind of average. But still like a solid 8. Not in any rush to see the other ones though.

It was a rip off of the Japanese classic "Battle Royale" (2000).

But I have a feeling that won't be your cup of tea either... it's strictly for those 30 years and under or young at heart. But it is Asian so you might enjoy it.

Pretty solid as far as tween blockbusters go.

Do you think I'm older than that? I'm still in my 20's. And I gave Hunger Games an 8....that's pretty good. That means I liked it. I'll look into Battle Royale.....sounds like something that would be easily found on Youtube.

Watched "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night". I didn't like it as much as I thought I would have but it's still great for a debut film.
