Peddle: Is Gobert an All-NBA Center?

According to him, this year he is. Actually has some nice stats to prove his point.

Other than that? Andre Drummond? Similarly a liability on offense. Previous honorees Dwight Howard, Joakim Noah, or Al Jefferson? Not as impactful this year as years prior. Nikola Vucevic? A viable candidate, but his defense leaves a little to be desired. Al Horford? Probably the most likely potential nominee, but while his impact on both offense and defense is great, in neither case does he completely improve the efficiency of his team when on the floor (according to his on/off splits).

So, here's an idea: why not Rudy Gobert?

Edit: Because the board isn't as clear about hyperlinks as I thought it would be:

no all star please!! keep in under the radar.

Too late. And why?

It's not like he isn't going to get the max regardless if he's an allstar or not. I'm not worried about his drive either. The guy plays will plenty of fire. It's obvious he does it because he loves to compete, not because he wants a fat paycheck, which hell get anyways.

Yes he should be an Allstar, but since the allstar game foolishly rewards offense over defense, it might be tough to make it. I think he'll be on all defensive teams though.

There isnt a center in the league that I'd rather have over Gobert. In my mind, he's the number 1 center.

Actually getting all star and all nba accolades can drive up the cost of your max contract. If Rudy Makes all NBA third team twice during his rookie contract, he is eligible for the 5 year 30% max. That could easily happen the next two years.

I hope it does.

Well, I'd rather pay more, than have Rudy leave because he doesn't feel like he can get recognition in Utah

I'm willing to pay him for being all NBA, thing is that I think he at least gets third team all NBA as a full time starter next year and the tear after, so we ARE going to pay him.
