A bit of trade speculation surrounding Cousins...

Chatter coming out of Sacramento is that the Kings and Cousins are getting tired of each other. It's not clear who is more fed up with the other, but there's now speculation that Cousins might go on the block.

I'll dig for more.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if Sacramento came calling the Jazz for....oh I don't know, maybe Favors + Burke + a future pick or something.

We had a thread earlier on asking if we would trade Favors for Cousins. Most people said no way. Now it might actually be a possibility.

Earlier I said yes, but now I wouldn't. Cousins is incredibly talented, but our team chemistry is so good right now, and Favors helps that. Our defense is what makes us so good, etc.

Love Boogie, but what we have is really special.

I'm not saying I'd do it. The Jazz have great chemistry building. But he is an All Star, and putting Cousins next to Gobert and Hayward, with Exum and Hood out on the floor would be pretty devastating to play against. Sure would eat some cap though.

I'm pretty sure Sacramento would want Favors. Actually, they'd probably want Gobert, but Jazz would balk and salaries have to match somewhat.

If they want to move Cousins, I'm almost certain they'll come calling for Favors. Maybe a guy like Booker gets thrown in for salary.

It's also worth mentioning that Cousins was held out of the last game, basically shut down for the season.

I assumed this as well with the post I wrote.

Okay, now what if Sacramento is willing to trade first-round picks this year, meaning the Jazz could get Russell or Hezonja at #6. The Jazz might send out Hood and take back Stauskas or something.

That's just speculation on top of speculation... but now you're looking at Exum/Hezonja/Hayward/Cousins/Gobert, which is championship-level talent.

Sexual Favors don't think I'm trolling cause I'm not, but you seem to be high on guys you can't win with. I suspect you are high on guys like Dion Waiters, Rudy Gay (before this year), and Josh Smith. Cousins will never win in the league if he's the best player on a team. And if he is ever an important piece on a good team, that team will need a strong veteran leadership and winning culture. I think I heard Locke say Cousins is close to as bad as Richie Incognito in the locker room.

I think it would warrant some discussion. I think the conclusion they'd come to is ultimately no, though I think they'd ask Mike Krzyzewski and maybe Gordon Hayward what he was like at Team USA. If Cousins is in a winning situation, he might act differently.

I'm not buying that. He's got some psychological issues that will handicap his ability to be a good teammate and a winner.

I think the issues with maturity are real...a bit like Rasheed Wallace or the artist formerly known as Ron Artest. Personally, I don't like his contract.

FWIW, both of those guys won chips... I might be in the minority, but I think i would still actually trade favors for cuz...

Suggest that to David Locke on tip off tomorrow. I would get a kick out of the reaction. I think Locke's most recent quote regarding Cuz was, "I'd trade Cousins for a bag of potatoes. And even then I'm making out like a bandit. A bag of potatoes. You trade cousins for that and you absolutely win that trade."

So in this scenario of trading Favors for Boogie, boogie is our PF? So he is out guarding the pick and rolls and the stretch 4s of this league? Our defense would be so awful so fast. Unless you think Rudy is a PF but then he is just taken away from the basket and loses his elite defensive presence at the rim.

Terrible trade idea.

Defense

Favors>>>>>>Cousins

Offense

Favors<Cousins

Which means we get worse as a team if we make the trade straight up. Plus Favors is too nice of a kid to be that mean to send him to Sac hole.
