The Jazz are a star player and point guard away from contention. Now could be the time to cash in some assets and go get a star and look to contend. With OKC missing the playoffs and Toronto getting swept, both may be looking to make some changes.
Jazz trade: Exum, Burks, Booker, #12, GS 17 pick for Westbrook
OKC trades: Westbrook, Lamb, and Novak for Lowry and DeRozan
Toronto trades: Lowry and Derozan for Exum, Burks, Lamb, Booker, #12, GS 17 pick, and Novak.
Jazz Lineup:
The Jazz would still have cap space to fill out the bench with some solid players. If they could add Carroll, a cheap backup PF (Bass, Amare, Boozer), and a cheap backup C (Wright, Speights, Koufos, Ajinca) we could contend next year.
Gobert/Koufos/Pleiss
Favors/Bass/2nd Rounder
Carroll/Hayward/Ingles
Hayward/Hood/Millsap
Westbrook/Burke/Cotton
OKC's Lineup:
Kanter/Adams
Ibaka/McGary
Durant/Morrow
DeRozan/Waiters
Lowry/Augustine
They would get a major upgrade at the SG spot which has been an issue since the Harden trade. Lowry is a downgrade from Westbrook, but is still an All-Star PG and could potentially be a better fit next to Durant. I think that team could be top 3 team in the West next year.
Toronto's Lineup:
Valanciunas/Nogiera
Patterson/Booker
Ross/Caboclo
Burks/Lamb
Exum/Vasquez
Plus they'd have some cap space and a couple first rounders to round out the roster (Max offer for Draymond Green or Tobias Harris). That would be a solid young team and they could be back in the playoffs in a year or two if Exum and Ross break out. It would also be fun to see what Burks could do as the #1 option offensively. He could average over 20 PPG next year if he stayed healthy.
