This one is more complex I think. The kids has all kinds of potential, but how many hundreds of times over the years have we said that about someone who ended up playing in China. Potential only really gets anything done when it turns kinetic. Does Exum have what it takes to make that change? Will he do it next season or the season after, or never?

Well for this one we are looking at next season. What exactly does the off-season bring for Dante? What player will we see next year and who will he be by the time the season ends?

You can make multiple choices if you like. Also, post in the thread your prediction of stats and other accolades, or failure as the case may be.

36% 3 pt
72% FT

To me solid progression will be if he develops some aggression on offense. I want to see him exploiting his speed and taking it to the hole when the opportunity presents itself. I am not even looking for him to break things down that much, but rather just take what the defense gives him. Last season he played so timidly on offense. There were many times he had a clear lane to the basket and all he needed was a stutter step or cross over and a burst of speed for a layup and he just dribbled back out and passed. I want to see him get some fire and play like he wants it on offense. I think his defense will continue to improve apace.

We will see good progress in aggression, weight, shooting and presence.

But he needs more than one off season to be top 20.

If Exum is suddenly an elite PG then Utah is a top 6 team in the west.

9 and 4,
Excellent
Defense.

Yep, I think something like this would be reasonable. If he is 12/6 guy like others have suggested that would be a sign of absolute monster in the making(it would be bigger jump than Schroeder made and his was considered an amazing one).

I'd say 27MPG, 9PPG, 4.5 APG, 3RPG, 1SPG, 0.4BPG, 42% FG, 34% 3PFG, 72% FT and most importantly - increase in aggression - 2.5 FTA/36

I watched some highlights from his u19 tournament and he was so aggressive and so good! There he was playing against players that weren't as fast of tall as him. I think that he needs some time to get acclimated to the size and speed of the NBA game and once he does that he will be much better.

I think he'll make strides next year and I think he'll be more aggressive.

this is about where I am. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if he averaged one more assist than you've given him here.

I can see him being considered a top 20 PG in the league as being the best case scenario, and if that's the case we should make the playoffs. I'm hoping he gets close to that kind of a level. Snyder could do wonders with him in a full offseason

He had the strangest rookie season ever... I have no clue what to expect. It seemed like he held back, but maybe he's not that good.

I think it's going to be another rough year for him. I look for him to make strides in his aggressiveness then make strides in his finishing his 3rd year. He attempted so few legitimate layup attempts that he didn't really get enough in game practice for finishing. He should be working on his body and watching a lot of tape on his drives. I'm going to assume the game moves a million miles per hour when he drives and he doesn't even realize the gimmies he has in front of him sometimes.

Errr, he could watch all of his drives in a 32 second youtube video because there just weren't that many of them...:)

This offseason will do wonders for Dante. I think it's the first time in his pro career that he's really had time to slow down and take it all in. His biggest problem as a rookie was being in his own head too much. While I'm not sure he'll ever be a knock-down shooter like Hood, I do feel like most of his offensive struggles were a mental thing. When you go back and watch his pre-draft highlights, like the Nike Hoop Summit game, it's kind of eye opening seeing that confident Dante Exum, who's not afraid to take it to the basket. With a slow and steady offseason, and a world of pressure off his shoulders, confident Dante should be coming next season.

And I don't even need to comment on his already stellar defense. Kid's a champ on that end of the court, no matter what.
