What's new

Could/will the united states split up?

the divide seems so great.
differences between new york for example and texas.
differnces between detroit and new jersey.

its like 2 different countries/cultures/laws.

would it happen in the future that certain states decide to **** off from the weak states of the us.

I've always thought we need more states. I understand there are some provinces of Canada who want to join US, and many provinces of the Philippines, Puerto Rico, two thirds of the states of Mexico, and Cuba. Let's let them all in.

Funny, I've always been thinking there should be a few we shed.

I think California should split into three.

There's no good way to divide the U.S.. Texas isn't really unified in their ideology. The west isn't homogenous. There is no clear line of demarcation.

But anyway, the U.S. is and always has been divided...into individual states.

No. Badasses live there.

Ok, I'll take your word for it. I'd always heard it was full of hillbillies who smurf their sisters, but maybe I'm thinking of Alabama, or all of the surrounding states. Also, not really related, but why is it whenever someone wants to insult a certain state, they always add "tucky" to the end? You know, like Montucky or Pensatucky. That's weird.

what is more badass than that???????

Agreed, but then again it's like a European telling us how we should do things.

How bad *** would it be if we could actually change something like this in this day and age?

It would not be bad ***. It would be another empty topic for politicians to "debate" and for citizens to pin their uninformed, meaningless votes upon. Any potential results would be certain to underwhelm.

Of course, if it helped shift the focus from fighting wars in Imaginationland and pissing on the grave of Friedrich Hayek, then maybe it would be pretty bad ***.

Please expound.

As a young country, we already have a lot of division amongst the population, and even more hatred by the world. Historically, superpowers rise and fall. Most recently with Russia, but over and over again throughout history. The Roman empire lasted over 500 years but it too fell, much longer if you count the crowning of Julius Caesar as the beginning of the empire. This country was founded on many of the same principles of Rome, both architecturally, and philosophically.

Population growth, continuing differences politically between large cities and states vs small, war, terrorist threats, economical issues, famine, etc. The odds are stacked against stability long-term. Like Rome, when a collapse does eventually occur, it will probably not be too unexpected, and our lives will go on in a similar fashion albeit with new borders and government. There is a good chance this won't happen until long after we are gone, but it will of course happen. Nothing gold can stay Pony Boy.

Either that, or everyone else will collapse, and we'll take over the rest of the world.

Texas should secede, then the US would only be the second greatest country in the world!

It would be awesome watching them try to use their national guard to defend themselves from other countries. I'd give it 3 weeks before it was renamed New China.
