No, Kanter's value plummeted much later, and that's mostly on him. It was Millsap and Jefferson's value that took the hit at the time. We took on two big men, each drafted #3 overall. There was no future on the team for Millsap and Jefferson after that. They knew it. The whole league knew it. We as fans turned on them because we thought they were standing in the way of Favors and Kanter. No way they were going to stick around.

All I'm saying is logjams can force front offices into bad decisions. Look no further than the Suns' point guard situation this year.

I'm not totally sold on Kaminsky being a PF..... except for one team. The one with Gobert.

The numbers when Kanter and Gobert played together were actually pretty good, so I could see Kaminsky and Gobert working well together.

Well, at least we are closer to being on the same page now. Although I don't agree that the logjam killed Alsap's trade value, I do believe it was a huge mistake not to move at least one of those players for rebuilding pieces. Players of that caliber can always bring back draft pick/s at the deadline by teams looking to strengthen their rosters for the playoffs. Jazz fans want to assume they weren't moved because they had no value, which is hogwash. Utah was committed to trying to make the playoffs with a flawed team that was built on a weak foundation, and it was that faulty direction that delayed the decision to rebuild. Jazz fans should thank their lucky stars we didn't sneak into the playoffs again, or Utah may not have decided to go full rebuild, and we'd still be struggling to find our way out of mediocrity, instead of being on the cusp of having the best team we've had since John and Karl.

Somehow whenever I watched Oubre play, I saw Nick Young in front of my inner eye. I don't know if it's the hair dye, or the weird playstyle, similar bodyshape or whatever. Just wanted to share that for no particular reason.

Build this man a church, nah scratch that, a temple already. The top 50 players will strive regardless of their situation, just simply to a different
degree.
For everyone else fit/situation matters a lot.

You may be right. Drafting even more bigs would seem very weird. And they have to retool the backcourt anyways.

Are they allowed to be on their toes? If so the effect of shoes is less. Regarding Winslow's measurements, I'm sure that if he is in shoes everybody else is too.
 
Nbadraft.net updated their mock - they still have us drafting Dekker. With our first 2nd-rounder they have us taking Joseph Young (Oregon PG).
 
If Johnson or Frank doesn't fall to us I think I would try and trade the pick to someone that is in love with Turner, Booker, or Oubre. I would want to get back a pick in the 15-19 range and another first rounder next year. Not sure if someone would do it, but if Milwaukee loves them some Myles Turner I think I'd trade the 12 for the 17 and Milwaukee's first rounder next year (with very limited protections). We can take what is left from the Booker/Lyles/Looney/Portis group. The first rounder can be used midseason or during the summer in a sign and trade to acquire some more immediate help or we can just sit on it.

My first thought would be to move up, but if that isn't possible I think moving down might have some appeal.

Pickings would be pretty slim at 17. Looney, Grant, Anderson, and Portis would probably be there. Next year Milwaukee will improve with Parker back, the 2016 pick would be around 20.

Where is Colton's annual Mock draft compendium?

Anyway the Draft Express Mock draft would make me mostly happy as a Jazz fan: Devin Booker, George De Paula (aka George Lucas, AKA the Brazillian Wookie), and Marc Garcia.

They have Booker over Oubre, Grant, Dekker, Portis, Lyles, Jones, Looney, Hollis Jefferson and Cameron Payne.

Yeah it just depends... I think Looney was overrated now he's a bit underrated. I also really like Payne (he could go as high as 11) and would be an awkward fit with our developing point guards. Dekker could also be there RHJ is interesting and some think RJ Hunter is the next Klay (I don't). It just seems a bit flat and kind of "eye of the beholder" to me at 12-19. I think we have enough talent that we could drop a few spots and take the BPA while collecting another good asset. I am not sure another team would do it tbh, but just wanted to hear others thoughts.

I also am not sure on Milwaukee. MCW might not be good and they were worse with Jabari on the floor than when he was on the bench. Jared Dudley was fairly important to that team and he might not be back. This team is a year removed from being the worst team in basketball. Maybe they balk at the max contract that Middleton is about to get... its coming.

This offseason could take us a million different directions.
 
Looks like Chad Ford no longer has us picking Looney at #12. Lyles is there now, with the Jazz passing on Looney, Kaminsky, Oubre. Looney and Oubre are out of the lottery altogether.

Tony Jones reported over the weekend that there was one interviewee with the Jazz at the Combine that did poorly. Wonder if it was Looney and Ford got wind of that. Otherwise, it's hard to imagine why Looney might be dropping because of the Combine. The only thing he did was get measured. And he measured 1/2" more on wingspan and standing reach than he had before. Maybe Ford is just joining everyone else finally in being more pessimistic about Looney.

It was probably one of the PG's saying he doesn't want to play behind Exum/Burke.
