Following potential 2015 draftees

What are we not seeing with Frank then? I honestly want to know. I'm just not the least bit excited about him. I honestly feel it might be a wasted pick.

The only thing that is selling me on him is he handled every defense with ease all through the tournament. Burke had many horrific offensive games in the last half of the season and in the tournament. This shows Frank has a high IQ and can adjust to defenses on the fly. Just my .02

Thanks.

If the Jazz draft Frank then I'll get over myself but I'll be worried every game.

I'll hope that I'm was wrong about him, just like I was with Burke.

Nearly everyone on this board felt nearly the same way. I can only think of about 3 other people besides myself who didn't like it.

I can't tell you exactly why I didn't like him. I'm also not saying that I'm some sort of perfect evaluator of talent either.

What I am saying is that sick feeling I got when the trade was unofficially announced is the same feeling I get when I think about the Jazz drafting Frank at 12. I'd be happy with him much lower (like the early 20's) but there are too many other players I personally would rather see the team gamble on rather than settling for Frank.

Yes, if the Jazz draft Frank at 12 then I believe they are settling, the same way the settled for Trey.
Haha. I can remember that draft like it was yesterday. I remember the trade being announced and me cursing the tv while at the same time my bros celebrating and making fun of me because I was so pissed! Still am to this day...

Whoa!! Just had a chilling thought while writing this. Had we not traded for Burke. We could've came away with the freak and Gobert. Damn u to hell Trey!
As much as people were celebrating Trey Burke's long clutch jumpers in college, it was at the same time an indication that he wasn't able to create a better opportunity for himself or teammates in key situations. I didn't like some of the shots he took, but I thought he'd be able to perform better with NBA spacing.

The funny thing is that Trey Burke's biggest problem seems to be shooting. That's how he's really been hurting the team.
Though I didn't like the pick. A day or two later I tried to be positive about the pick. I thought at the very least his jump shot would be great. Lol. Nope

For me Kaminsky seems different then Trey. Trey always seemed to be full of himself. Kaminsky seems to be a leader and a great demeanor on the court

I've had the same thought but since the Jazz were jonesing for a PG that year I bet they woulda taken MCW (or CJ McCollum). So the Jazz probably woulda gone MCW/CJ @ 14, and Gobert @ 21.
So result woulda been about the same. Except Miller would save 3M (not having to buy the 27th pick from Denver).

Or I guess the Jazz coulda still grabbed Gobert with Denver's 27th pick and used the 21st pick on: Dieng, Plumlee, Bullock, maybe Goodwin. Meh, not a big deal either way.

ok, I'm over it.

Another random thought... Vucevic is another big guy who didn't dominate his first two years of school. He is longer than Frank but really doesn't use it on defense. Not a similar game but I think they are similar quality prospects.

I'm okay with drafting Devin Booker. At least you know he can shoot. He's also young enough he could grow another inch or two and get quite a bit stronger. He's got okay size as is.

I'm still having a hard time getting psyched about Looney. I like what I've seen of RHJ more, tbh.

I'm not sure about Booker. He can shoot, but guys get drafted and that doesn't keep them in the league. I think he has some good potential though.

I'm still not sold about Booker... everytime I hear his name mentioned I get this allergic reaction otherwise known as 'Stauskusism'

Why all this arguing about Frank? Let's just move up and get someone else. We have the assets to do it. Winslow and Mario are in reach. Either one would be an exciting and promising addition to the team. 12th pick plus the GS and OKC pick, plus some second rounders. That might do it.

I'm keeping an open mind on looney because spycam seems to like him, and I trust his opinion, otherwise I think Looney would be on my do not want list. Spy and I are flip-flopped on Looney/Kaminsky.

I think Turner has pretty big bust potential. Slow AND weak AND doesn't really have an offensive game? Yeah, IDK.

I'm not necessarily a Looney homer or Frank hater. Just trying to eliminate all paradigms from the discussion.

There's a solid crop of prospects at #12 and it's difficult to judge, in a comprehensive manner, who is the best.

I have a good deal of trust in the Jazz FO (couldn't always say that) and think they'll make a good pick.

He's elite RIGHT NOW at college level at some of the things that translate best in the NBA - rebounding and defending the rim. Even though he's not exceptionally explosive his timing at the defensive end is on a very high level. All this would most probably translate from day 1. Also, he's not the quickest player, but his instincts and length allow him to recover very well in defense. He needs to add strength but that's one of the easiest things to add with pro-training... He also needs work on his high PNR defense. His low post game is very limited, but he's really good with turn around jumpers and high post jumpers. He can also stretch the floor up to the 3p line. I think that's very far from him not having an offensive game. I'd say his offensive game is one-dimensional right now and that is something he will have to work on, but I like his prospects for 3-4 years down the road much better than Kaminsky's...

He is still way ahead of Kaminksy when he was the same age. Who knows how good he could be in 3 years.

Turner was the #2 prospect coming out of hs behind Okafor, fwiw. He was supposed to contend for the #1 spot.

Similar situations have happened like that, Shabazz was #1 coming out, Barnes was #1 coming out. One fell to #14, the other to #7, they are becoming solid players too.

I didn't know Johnson's release was so weirdly low(mainly on 3s). It looks like he's shooting them from chest level on some of those...
