I'm not a Sloan hater, but considering how things have been going this is just a dumb move. Sloan wouldn't coach anywhere else anyway, no need to lock him up earlier than has to be done.
I can't imagine he's going to be doing this much longer. I honestly believe Jerry is an offensive genius, unfortunately, some of the team seems to be tuning him out now. The FO needs to do a better job finding the right players to fit the system.
Well ****. Bye bye Deron. I don't think Deron will resign if Sloan is still here. Granted, this is a one year extension, but I would think hiring a coach Deron likes for next year would be more persuasive than trying to find a coach and resign Deron at the same time 15 months from now.
The only thing surprising about this extension to me is that people on Jazzfanz are actually surprised by it. It's never been the Millers' policy to enter the last third of the season with Sloan in the final year of his contract. Too much speculation down the stretch when the team should be focused on other things. I can't believe people honestly believed Sloan wouldn't be back next year - assuming there is a season - unless he chooses to retire.
That OKC game was terribly coached. Poor substitutions in the fourth... The help each other defense is great, but only when the other team isn't shooting the lights out from three. The reason we always get killed by teams when they're shooting well from long range is that we have no flexibility on our defense. Sometimes players just need to stick to their man...
