Sloan signs 1 year extension

All the Sloan homers just giggled, "that'll show those stupid jazztards"....

Yep, once again the Sloan lovers have shown us what's in store. The steady treadmill to nowhere.

Hey Rev, I understand people want change.
I don't have a problem with that, I just worry that the change will be for the worse.
I don't think I could handle 20 years of being the Clippers, and there is no guarantee that if Sloan goes things will go better.
Maybe, just maybe, it's more the players than the coach.

I'm not defending Sloan at all because he doesn't need it, I just think we might miss the old codger when he's gone.

The only thing surprising about this extension to me is that people on Jazzfanz are actually surprised by it. It's never been the Millers' policy to enter the last third of the season with Sloan in the final year of his contract. Too much speculation down the stretch when the team should be focused on other things. I can't believe people honestly believed Sloan wouldn't be back next year - assuming there is a season - unless he chooses to retire.

Hope. Change. Action. These aren't just phrases from the last Presidential election.

I can't speak for everyone, but as for myself, I wasn't expecting the Millers to fire him or not re-sign him - I was hoping that he felt too old and wanted to put himself out to pasture. I imagine that others here also hoped that he would feel like his days were done and want to retire. I haven't read any comments here indicating they were surprised the Millers brought him back.

Sloan is obviously not getting COY, but I still think the guy is a good coach. I don't need to rehash all of his perceived weaknesses, but I have a sneaking suspicion we would find out the hard way that there are good reasons for the things he does. He has gotten a lot more out of lesser teams.

I think this is a good thing for the team. What if Popps got canned last year for a mediocre year after they landed Jefferson...just sayin

So I guess I gotta agree with you Spazz.

I bet if fans from about 29 other teams in the league saw this thread, they would think Utah had the most retarded fans on the planet.

That is, if they don't already think so.

Too bad they'd think wrong because there's much more than what lies on the surface.

Yes indeed: wanting to get rid of a coach who has failed to deliver a championship in 23 years and counting and none in sight is just plain silly.

Thank you I've been saying this for some time now. Heaven forbid the players play hard set good hard picks and play defense and run the offense and last but not least box out. Remember the grass is always greener on the other side.

One question. How often do you talk to fans from opposing teams?

Here in LA I have more than a handful fellow NBA fans from all sorts of different teams and for the most part, they all think Sloan is old and should have retired long ago. I got 5 emails today when this hit the wire. None of them were positive.

If laker fans are upset by the extension Slone must be doing something right. Just saying.
