What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

Did you see the new videos of him running after the running coaching he received? It's MUCH better now. He actually runs like a human now...

Yes... and I was joking a bit trying to reveal the player without giving the name. I liked turner really early when he was killing the three. I saw the video and it is encouraging.

He is one of the guys I could see us taking over Frank and at 12 I'd take him, but I might look to flip him to Boston or Milwaukee for a haul. He can play with Favs, but not Gobert imo. The red flag I have on him is he isn't a natural athlete if he has to learn how to run like a human. He seems like a hard worker and a really good kid. I could see him having some weird medical stuff and never being able to put it together (there was some concern over his knees that has died down). I could see him being successful as a center as well and being quite unique.

He's a guy I'd rather have someone else develop and like I said get a haul and someone I felt better about. I'd try to flip him to Boston for 16 and another future first or to Mil for 17 and their pick next year... I think he'd have that kind of value.

If I told you that those are two freshman prospects one of them the almost consensus no. 1 pick and the other one is considered one of the raw prospects of the draft and could very possibly be available at 12, would that rise your interest in the second one?

Was Turner's running THAT bad? I remember the first time I watched him I expected his running form to be much worse than it was because of posts in this thread.

Every time he ran it looked like the first time he had ever tried to run. It was just weird... I don't ever remember being taught how to run... It speaks to a weird coordination movement problem he could have.

If a top-10 prospect falls to #12 because of the way he runs, then I'm interested. Srs.

It wasn't just that he was a little hunched over or lumbering (like Favs can be) it was all kinds of wrong.

I remember watching oden and thinking that guy looks like running is killing him... he then had a leg that was longer than another and had injury after injury. I got the same weird feeling watching Turner.

I hope he is successful... he is a good dude.

Yah, we are talking about Myles Turner. He doesn't have the offensive versatility of Towns right now, but I'd say his defensive instincts are better. He has the potential to stretch the floor. A lot of his offense right now is high post jumpers, turn around jumpers, spot up 3s and whatever he can get as putbacks on offensive rebounds. He'd need to develop some low-post game, but I like him as a prospect.

I was just about to post the possibility of one of his legs being longer than the other. I don't think it's that unusual, but some people might have one where the difference is significant enough to matter to the point of being injury prone. Definitely a concern.

I think its a major health concern if that is the case... from what I understand it throws everything off of alignment. I think its kinda rare and would explain why he moves the way he does. Its certainly something that would be identified in his medical records. It is a pure guess on my part.

I'd have Turner right behind Kaminsky in my draft board though. He's a hard worker so if it is possible to overcome it I think he will. His shooting stroke is pure and he is really long.

IRT, the comparison, the difference in FG% jumps off the page. .46% is okay for a wing, but not so much for a 4/5. Turner is very intriguing, but I'd be nervous taking him.

Do you guys think Turner is lower just because he runs funny?

Yes. There are a lot of questions about why he runs funny, and what impact it will have on health. To me he moves everything (legs, hips, arms, neck, torso etc) awkwardly, but I admit I base that on a small sample size. He just didn't look or move like a NBA player.

He shoots many more 3s and jumpers than Towns, that drops the % a lot. His TS% is not bad at all, though, for a raw freshman - 56%... but in general yeah... he's not the least risky pick in the draft. I'd say he's high risk/high reward pick. He needs a lot of work on his low post game.

To me the biggest appeal in his game is the combination of defensive potential(especially as a rim protector) and potential to stretch the floor. There are very very few players in the league that can do both.

As for Locke, he needs to learn that numbers can only get you so far. They can't tell the whole story, and like others have pointed out, they can't take into account for certain variables.

Locke watches games too.

Is Locke not allowed to have his own opinion?
