Jazz Pre-Draft Workouts 2015

Randy Rigby on 1280 moments ago talking about value and draft picks. Particularly capturing value from a pick if you can get a player you value higher with a later pick, how to capture the difference with your pick. Or to put it bluntly. Trading down.

Or trading in for a pick, doesn't have to mean we trade 12 to get into a later spot in the draft.

Walt Perrin after today's workout:

Highlights:
-All prospects did well and had no problems with fatigue(including Looney)
-Looney shot well, probably is better at that than Portis right now
-Portis' shot would need some tweaks and adjustments... showed he can move his feet in D, needs go get stronger.
-Looney had an advantage in one area on the floor and Portis had an advantage in another area

Workout PR 101: Say "Everyone competed hard"

That has to be the first sentence out of every player's and coach/FO's mouth when asked about a workout.

Well, none of the links are working for me so I'll stay here in the dark.

Try these:

Not sure what to make of Rigby. Maybe he's implying that the Jazz really like Hunter.

It's interesting if Looney as a slightly younger guy can keep pace with Portis. Looney might actually have the longer standing reach, and is a more natural shooter. I just wish Looney could finish better inside. That has to be where Portis had his advantage, whereas Looney is probably better 20 feet out.

I really like the idea of Connaughton in the 2nd round. They always say that a player should have an elite skill. He's got a couple... shooting and athleticism. He's also tough and typically played against opposing teams SF or PF's even though he's only 6'5".

Yeah but he fibbed his standing reach somehow at the combine (no way it's that small) so he had an exaggerated vertical number.

Bobby "Simply Because" Portis

I listened to all three Locke pod casts. I don't know if it is the individuals or the extra 2 years of school but RJ Hunter was a much better interview.

Portis seems simple, but it might be my impression of him saying cliches in a Karl Malone accent. I like his can do attitude.
