Following potential 2015 draftees

from HoopsHype....

So comes the narrative that Looney isn’t ready for the NBA, his asthma is a problem and that his stock is dropping – the problem is that’s not at all what’s happening. Teams higher on the draft board are trying to re-arrange dates to get Looney in, and as more teams see him in their building, there is a sense that Looney’s floor, which was believed to be No. 20 to the Toronto Raptors, may in fact be substantially higher. -Basketball Insiders

GM's may want his stock to rise because they don't want him.

This reminds me of the Celtics driving up Vonmeh's draft stock last year. All the sudden a bunch of mocks had us taking him.(IIRC there were at least a few JFers that were fish hooked by it)

Wait, is a higher floor mean before 20 (<19) or above 20(>19)?

I'm not swayed. I want no part of Dekker.

I'm a Dekker fan. The thing about Wisconsin is that they play so damn slow. Dekker may have looked way better on a team that pushed the pace more. I can see him, with his size and athletic ability, looking much better in the NBA.

Shrug. There are a lot of guys I like better than him that I don't even consider him an option. But I didn't like Hayward either. Apparently I'm a racist.

U act as though Vonleh is a bust already. His season last year was ruined by injury and he was my guy before the college season was over and still think he has potential to be an allstar.

Damn u two. I'm trying like hell to get off the Dekker's bandwagon these posts don't help.

I see Corey Brewer. Hopefully he can be more consistent than Brewer though.

Brewer lists 6'9" and is skinny as a rail (190 lbs). Plus he couldn't shoot when he came into the league. Qualls is built pretty solidly and has a better jumper.

If no one slips to 12, I think this will come down to Looney and Booker. Both would be great fits for the Jazz. Even if Oubre is there, I'm not sure the Jazz will take him.

I like Dekker well enough. I can't help but compare him to Chandler Parsons. I just don't see him doing anything that's elite. Nice athlete though. I'll be surprised if the Jazz take him. It will mean they see something special in him like they did with Hayward.

I'd be fine with Dekker at #12, fwiw.

I would hope they'd take Booker in this situation.

I don't think he's Kyle Korver... doesn't have the quickness and I don't think he's that level of shooter. There really isn't a good comp for him because usually players that are that limited athletically don't make it in the league, but also he's more skilled, smart and crafty than a lot of the players that don't make it due to athleticism limitations. For example, with his length and athleticism he shouldn't be a good rebounder, yet his box-out technique, anticipation and timing allows him to be above average rebounder. His lack of quickness should make him strictly catch and shoot guy, yet his IQ and precision on attacking closeouts allows him to beat people off the dribble and either pull up for mid-range shots or go to the rim. He also has a knack for leak outs on fast break and he has the smarts and feel for the game to allow him to move well off the ball and make great cuts to the basket.

He's one of the weirdest prospects to evaluate simply because you never know how far his smarts and craftiness will take him and how much his lack of athleticism and quickness will limit him on the next level. At some point you would assume he'd just not be able to overcome his limitations, but that point hasn't come yet - he's excelled against pretty much any level of competition he's faced, and that includes elite European teams. Will the NBA level be too much? I have no idea... I think he's worth taking a chance on in the second round.

actually going back and watching some 2003 creighton games and considering korver is older then vezenkov they are very similar at the same stages of their lives. korver learned to play passable defense. vezenkov has I higher bbiq now then korver did then.

I feel like those Linas Kleiza comps were reasonable.

I can't wait to see Hezonja in the playoffs. Hopefully, it's for us. There's a very good chance that either Hezonja or Porzingis will be on the board at 8. I'd still make a stout offer to the Pistons for that pick.

TJF - why do you like Dekker? I mean, I think you said you don't know why but you must have some reasons for it. I just can't get excited about him. Catchall was more specific about Dekker's negatives than I have been - I'm just kinda vaguely not interested. Perhaps because he does nothing elite.

This draft season is kind of boring, not enough speculation and mis direction. I kind of miss the cavs in the lottery. They leak rumours like a sieve for their team and everyone else. Sam Amico is so boring without constant trade speculation based on a 'league source'.
