Following potential 2015 draftees

Yeah, that the point was in a smaller role where he was probably more focused on simple things he shot well. Shows that he has potential to be a pretty good shooter.

Possible, but when you consider all other factors - inconsistent form, relatively low FT%, it is more likely indicative of the sample size being noisy than of actual potential.

4 attempts a game is a pretty good sample size. He shot 34.8% from during his 3 year career, which I think might be .5% off the great "40% 3pt shooting" Harrison Barnes during his 2 year college career.

Not every player(or not even most) that shoots 35% become great shooters. Shooting 35% in college usually doesn't translate to being a good shooter in the league. Barnes is more an exception than the rule.

I think you just made up that rule because I can find a lot of good 3pt shooters who shot 35% or below in college.

No way we should be taking oubre over WCS and no way Winslow goes before Mudiay.

First this is a mock assuming no trades. I think it is helpful to see who would most want to trade and it's fun to do but the draft obvi won't go like that. Trades will happen that will ripple through the rest of the draft.

Second I picked Oubre because he is the type of player the Jazz need to add to the roster. I like slo-mo Joe and think he has been a great guy for a young team but he isn't a long term solution.

Third I think Mudiay is a bit over rated. The Magic need a legit shooter. Winslow is that. Mudiay shot ~50%ft. I think Mudiay is a case of people being enamored with the mystery man.

I bet I can find more that shot 35% or less and didn't become good 3pt shooters, especially the ones that haven't shown great touch from the FT line.

Also, HOLY SMOKES! I knew he's look impressive in workouts, but... damn:

He has that Gobert thing where his dunks with force and ferocity. I love it.

That guy is something else man... I haven't been a big fan because he looks so skinny in the highlight videos I have seen, but man that stroke is pure and he moves incredibly well. He looks like he has put on a little weight and looks like a guy that will fill out a bit. Doesn't look frail to me.

I don't think he gets past Orlando, but if he does I wonder if we have the assets to go to #6 and get him. He may take a while to figure out the NBA, but man I see more Dirk there than Bargs.

Really? You don't say.

Isn't that what we are discussing? Whether a 34.8% 3p shooter in college, who shot 69.5% from the FT has better chance to become a good/great 3p shooter or a bad/average 3p shooter in the league?

If you had to put 1000 bucks on the line at even money odds, would you put them on the guy becoming above 38% shooter or below? 38 of course is arbitrary but lets say that's the cut off for good/great shooters since the average is about 35-36% for the league.

I don't like either of them very much, but I like Dekker better than Lyles. Would much rather have pretty much anybody else in our range than those two.
Yep

Also I'm fine with Dekker and Lyles. I think Lyles is better than he showed on that Kentucky team. Lyles has a great stroke and some great physical tools. If those guys are the target though I'd rather wait until draft night and see what is available then move back and pick up a first for my troubles.

Also, Spence Checketts is a douche...

So you're saying you may leak your interest in these two in hopes that the teams ahead of you take another look at them? Cause that's what this tweet seems like. smokescreen

That shooting stroke is so sexy.

He gets dialed in and doesn't miss

Yep, I can say I was hyping his offensive game all year long, but you unbelievers didn't listen :p He has mad offensive potential and defensively, if he gets a bit stronger he has the chance to be good, too... bball iq and defensive awareness are still questions though.
