What's new

who would you rather trade out of Favors or Hayward

Your Hayward hate is silly. Especially since he is turning it up and playing great. Must really burn for you.

But if I have to choose between Hayward and Favors I'd trade Hayward. Favors is part of an elite paint D that permiates the whole floor. The Jazz's guards and wings are aggressive because they know Rudy will pick their man up on D if they are beat. Rudy can do that becuase of Favor's length and mobility to cover him while he challenges the drive.

I would not be so quick to break that up.

I don't understand all of the irrational Hayward and Favors hate. This team was going nowhere fast, with a ton of veterans who had heavy contracts and a couple of young, but promising, players trying to figure out who they were and how they fit into the bigger picture.

Fast forward to now, and the heavy contracts are gone. They young players are veteran team leaders. They both have elevated their game to match or exceed the extended contracts that they were both given. They've both improved dramatically over the past 3 years to be playing at a near All Star level. Oh. . . and they finally love playing for the young coach that is running the show.

When you get exactly what you hope for, you don't get rid of it before you have a chance to use it. Favors and Hayward are both key parts to the future of this franchise. I think both stay AND are re-signed after their contracts expire.

There is nothing to understand.

In his trollness he chooses a likeable Jazz personality to hate, then goes to town.

Probably part of the code of having an alt... it's like the alt's link to the posters mind to separate the alt from the "real" account.

It doesn't exist.

99% of jazzfanz love, or at least like both of them.

In answer to the question in the OP I would trade Hayward if I had to choose.
Favors is younger, he is a big, I get the sense he likes it here more, and he is cheaper.

In terms of who is the better player, I think they are really close but Hayward is probably a little better right now imo

You don't trade either one right now. Why the smurf anybody wants to smurf with what proved to be success is beyond me. Utah showed a hell of a lot of promise, so let's try to build on that and see what we have before making huge adjustments. I think draft fever must be rotting people's brains right now.

Seems like it depends on who the trades are for...

Probably dont want to trade either since I doubt we would get a better player back but if either brought in a better player on a contract that was at least a couple years than yes I would trade either of them. If its for a wing than Hayward, if its for a PF than Favors.

Favors sucks.

Keep Hayward.

Am I doing this right? What alternative universe does the OP live in?

Hayward. Why?
1. The Jazz are deeper at the wings: Hood and Burks can start
2. Bigs are harder to find, especially those who can effectively play the 4/5. If we didn't have Gobert, Favors would be our starting center. That's incredible versatility.
3. Favors has a better contract and I'm scared as hell Hayward is going to opt out and ask for $25M+. If Utah gets a wing in the draft, it might be worth exploring a trade for Gordon in the next 2 years.

I don't think Hayward is going anywhere for the rest of his career. Jazz made sure of that. Maybe he plays for Lakers or some other big $ franchise that will bring him more advertisement money in the final years of his career as a veteran point forward.

Favors is the perfect franchise player for the Jazz. Why would they trade him? I think you need to reconsider trading any of those two if you are stuck to this decision because of money. And I don't see anything bringing in any necessity to trade either other than money.

If somehow **** comes down to this, I would say Hayward, because you would get more for him. I am perfectly certain that Favors will explode in another team because he will get out of his comfort zone in another team.

How so? They only matched a contract that ties him to Utah for 2 more seasons. After that he's an unrestricted FA. And I seriously doubt they're committed to throwing a 30% max deal at him to ensure they're the highest bidders in 3 years.
