Following potential 2015 draftees

I think I'm leaning toward Sam Dekker tbh.

I just like his size and athletic ability.

I like Dekker. Did he work out for us? I think if Johnson doesn't fall I'd find a good trade back scenario, but could live with Dekker.

If we didn't have Exum would jazzfanz be all in for Payne?

I think there would be a lot more debate about Payne, Grant, Jones, with a few wanting to move up for Mudiay, and others wanting to move down on Wright. The conversations would be much different about the draft, thats for sure.

In a field of good wing prospects Sam Dekker is damn mediocre. He'd be a reach at 12.

24.5" no-step vertical is a bit funky.. thats Steve Novak / Julius Hodge / Austin Daye territory.

If Dekker can shoot he can be a really good prospect. I just have my doubts about him ever becoming above average shooter and without that I think he will struggle in the league.

I know it is the typical white on white comp, but there are a lot of similarities to Chandler Parsons. He's a bit bigger. He's another wing that could play small ball 4. I wouldn't love it at 12 because I think you could get him at 16 or 17.

My draft scenario... I think Turner falls to us on draft night... we take him and then make a call to both Milwaukee and Boston. If they pony up a good future first (not 28 this year in Boston's case) then I'd move back and take Dekker, Looney, Oubre, or RHJ (he's underrated). If neither team ponies up something good we keep Turner and are happy about it.

Steve Kyler corrected and said the jazz haven't gotten Johnson in "yet". He also mentioned that just because a team hasn't said a player has come in doesn't mean he actually hasn't.

Chad Ford took a huge dump over Locke's Trey Lyles love on their podcast part 2.

Thank you Chad Ford.

And Chad promoted some guy named Portis out of Arkansas as being good for the Jazz.

Interesting to compare Ford to Givony. Iirc ford is down on looney, givony is high. Ford sees Kaminsky as a risk givony sees Frank as a lock.

Also interesting, givony gushed over porzingas with Locke, then went on LAL radio the next day to say porzingas might be a good 3rd or 4th option on a good team, but her lasagna was the second best player in the draft and everyone would be talking about him if he was doing workouts rather than still playing in Spain.

I don't think I want any part of Kelly Oubre. Not sure why people like him.

Size, athleticism, shooting potential, playmaking potential, defensive potential... a lot with him is potential. He can be Kawhi'ish... or he can be Al Thornton/Marshon Brooks.

edit: He's actually a prototypical wing. If you narrow down the list to prototypical wings with similar measurements you are left with a list like:

Marshon Brooks - 7'1'' - 38''
Al-Farouq Aminu - 2010 -7' 3.25" -33.5
Kawhi Leonard - 2011 -7' 3" - 32
Jerami Grant - 2014 - 7' 2.75" - NA
DeAndre Daniels - 2014 - 7' 2" - 32
Otto Porter - 2013 - 7' 1.5" - 36
Wesley Johnson - 2010 - 7' 1" - 37
Lazar Hayward - 2010 - 7' 0.75" - 36
Trevor Ariza - 2004 -7'2'' - 32
Josh Howard - 2003 - 7' 2" - 36.5
Danny Granger - 2005 -7' 1.5" - 34.0
Jeff Green - 2007 - 7' 1.25" -38.0
Al Thornton - 2007 7' 1" - 41.0
Renaldo Balkman - 2006 - 7' 1" - 35.0

I think he has more skill than most of the busts on this list. I think my main concern about him is his motor and self-awareness. He might be the type of player who thinks he's better than he actually is and I wonder how that would impact his progress.

Chad Ford came out with a new mock draft this morning..

1. MIN - Towns
2. LAL - Okafor
3. PHI - Porzingis
4. NYK - Russell
5. ORL - Hezonja
6. SAC - Mudiay
7. DEN - Winslow
8. DET - Dekker
9. CHA - Booker
10. MIA - Johnson
11. IND - WCS
12. UTA - Turner
13. PHO - Kaminsky
14. OKC - Payne

- He has now jumped on Porzingis to Philadelphia
- New York gets a steal with Russell
- Hezonja is now in the top-5
- Mudiay falls into Sacramento's lap
- Dekker at #8 to Detroit?
- WCS falls into Indiana's lap
- Turner falls into Utah's lap
- There is no Oubre in the lottery

From his chat this morning as well:
Hezonja goes 5 to Magic, 7 to Denver or 8 to Pistons. If he and Justise Winslow are both off the board (and in my latest mock they are) I'm hearing strongly that the guy the Pistons really like is Wisconsin's Sam Dekker.

Lol

That's it, his name is now Mario Her Lasagna.

That number seems like a weird fluke. He looks much more athletic in game film and workout film.
