Following potential 2015 draftees

How many times is Dekker going to be standing flat footed and jumping while playing basketball?

That number was probably just a fluke. I really don't believe it's an accurate representation of his athletic ability. When combine numbers don't agree with the eye test, you can kind of throw them out the window.

I like Dekker.

You do jump off of two feet flat footed a fair amount when rebounding near the basket. Timing and how quickly you can jump are just as big of factors as going really high. I think he is a decent functional athlete. I have more concerns about his handle and passing if he is a full time 3. If he plays 3 and a bunch at 4 I'm less concerned.

The more I think about this draft the more I'd be inclined to move back for a decent future first or a player. Boston, Milwaukee, Washington, and maybe Toronto if they'd do 20 and Patterson for Booker and 12.

Yeah, but you have to factor in strength when you are going up for those rebounds. It's not like it's 2 players just jumping from a standstill without contact.

Right... its a functionality thing. You have to box, hold, then jump. Point was it does happen but its not like you are just jumping for height.

Oubre it isn't the physical tools its the mental aspects that scare me... He seems a bit Waitersish with his assessment of his game. Good to be confident... I am wary of the guy who has to tell you how great he is or is going to be.

Damn.... J0nathan has the hops!

Bruh who knew Jazzfanzers could be so complimentary?! Yall got me feeling mighty athletic .

I could hop out of this chair right now, and bounce 25" in the air without taking a step. no lie. Not saying that thats impressive, it should be fairly pedestrian, but people are fat and dont prioritize being able to jump kick taller people in the face.

Lol Locke said "bitch" in the podcast with Pelton.

He started saying "bitch" then turned it into "beach" when he realized what he did lol then explained he meant to say "bitch" but does't want to say it in a podcast.

Pelton compared Myles Turner to Myeres Leonard.

Offensively they are somewhat similar, but Turner is 4 inches longer and projects as an elite shot-blocker and rim protector (and rebounder), while Meyers can't block a shot to save his life. The way they defend in space(they can't) is similar.

The question was if Frank can be a 5. You said it didn't matter because of Gobert. If he can be a 5, then fine. If not, I wan't no part of him (I don't really like him either way, but can understand the pick better if he can play C).
I think players getting pigeon-holed into one specific position is a thing of the past except for a few exceptions (Gobert, hibbert, marc gasol)
Duncan is a 4/5, so is favors, kg, cousins can play some 4 sometimes, bosh is a 4/5. Same goes for wings.
Hell, draymond green played the 5 position in the finals.

I think Frank can be a 5 sometimes and a 4 at other times.

Turner was the one that Pelton liked best for the Jazz in our range. He preferred him even in front of Johnson.

Don't love the Turner/Leonard comparison. Both can shoot (though Leonard this last season was on a whole 'nother level for a big man), but I don't see much in common other than that. Turner can protect the rim, while Leonards biggest strength is probably his athleticism and mobility not things Turner is really known for.

Considering that after the trade deadline, the Jazz often went with Jeremy Evans and Jack Cooley as the 5 (and they were still winning), I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that ANY of WCS, Kaminsky, Turner, Lyles, Portis and even Looney can come in to fill that role and have it be an upgrade. Hell, even Kanter would have been great off the bench if he'd have played any defense at all, had a contract that reflected that role and he was humble enough to do what was best for the team instead of himself.

Minor Setback for Cameron Payne in Denver Nuggets Workout

by: Jonathan Givony - President
June 19, 2015
Cameron Payne suffered a non-displaced fracture in the ring finger of his right (off) hand in a workout in Denver on Monday. After seeing a hand specialist in New York, it was determined that Payne suffered a clean fracture which will not require surgery, and will sit out the next three weeks as a precautionary measure. His hand is currently in a splint, not a cast. “Cam continued to work out even after suffering the injury in Denver, and he could probably play in a meaningful game tomorrow if he needed to,” his agent Travis King told us, adding that the precise timetable for his return will be set after an additional visit with a specialist next week.

Payne completed his workout schedule with his visit to Denver and was not planning on traveling to see any more NBA teams. Teams he already worked out for (besides the Nuggets) include the Los Angeles Lakers, the Sacramento Kings and the Indiana Pacers. He has also visited the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics so far, but did not conduct a workout there. According to Payne's camp, he has received strong indications that will be the third point guard drafted next Thursday, and had already received his invitation to the NBA Green Room prior to the setback in Denver. He is planning on attending the draft.

According to NBA sources we've spoken with, a number of teams could attempt to move up and trade for Payne depending on how the lottery shakes out.

His status for summer league will be determined by the doctor's timetable, as well as which team drafts him. The Vegas Summer league ends on July 20th, giving him ample time to return if needed.

The couple times I've met Locke in real life, he swore CONSTANTLY. He probably does a better job holding it in during broadcasts than I would. Watching a Jazz game and not being allowed to swear ever... that poor soul.
