Dude, at one point Rudy Gobert was projected to go in the top 5 of the draft by DX. There is no one like that in this draft, I can guarantee it.
LBJ is 6-9 270 and can guard all 5 positions. I know he doesn't fit under ur argument of height, but the point is it depends on how u carry that weight. I'm not a fan of Johnson but his weight is not the problem it's an advantageNo, find a guy as short and as heavy - could be shorter or heavier - who has been successful in the NBA. The point is, it is really hard to be a good NBA player when you are that short and that heavy - it's just a fact. It is a fact that guys with those measurements are incredibly rare success stories in the NBA.
Hey, it's clear you feel the Jazz don't need to acquire talent like Hood or Gobert at this point. Seems a little strange that you wouldn't want to add players of that caliber, but to each his own. It's okay.

I'll help you out SJF. So far, his weight hasn't hindered his perimeter defense at all. It does however give him the ability to play some defense down low due to good lower body strength and girth. The only problem is that he's relied on it to play bully ball on offense, which just isn't going to work in the NBA.
I see his size as more of a positive than a negative. I mean, the dude has like 7% body fat. He's not fat, he's just built like a rock.

OKC has shopped Perry Jones, Jeremy Lamb and Steve Novak the last few days, per league sources. Financially motivated, but looking for pick.
I feel like I'm one of the only people left one Perry Jones III Island...and I haven't given up on Lamb yet. They both have so much talent, but it seems like it come down to lack of effort with them. Wonder if a couple second rounders would get us PJ3. Funny how Lamb was one of the assets they got in the Harden trade, and now they're gonna pay Kanter 15mil while they let Harden walk.
Several alright comparisons have been given physically. Ron Artest being the closest one in my opinion. Basically same height/weight, with Artest having about 2 inches in wingspan.
I'm still here on PJ3 Island. But I keep a low profile. I would love to get PJ3 for one or both of our second rounders.
Don't think u can just count on finding a Gobert that late in every draft. We were extremely lucky

Larry Johnson is another - a bit longer, but again, a decent comparison. I didn't say it was impossible, just that it's extremely rare. If you like Stanley enough to take that risk, fine - just don't be surprised if he's outside the top 10.
And Hood? I guess DL got lucky two straight years. It happens. It's luck, though - has nothing do with DL's ability to evaluate talent.
Needs: backup PF, C, SG
Round 1 (12) Kevon Looney, F, Fr. UCLA
Round 2 (42) Rakeem Christmas, F/C, Sr., Syracuse
Round 2 (54) Larry Nance Jr., F, Sr., Wyoming
Analysis: The Jazz are one of the few teams in the lottery without any glaring needs. Their starting five of the future is pretty set: Dante Exum at point guard, Alec Burks at shooting guard, Gordon Hayward at small forward, Derrick Favors at power forward and Rudy Gobert at center. That starting five has a chance to be awesome someday, and I don't think anyone in Utah is going to mess with it. Burks is the biggest question mark of the group, but given his recent contract extension, they're going to try to make it work. And even if it doesn't, the way Rodney Hood played toward the end of the season gives them hope that his replacement might already be on their roster.
That frees them to take the best player available, and I think that's Looney. If there is a third tier in this draft, it ends around No. 12 and Looney is the last guy in it. He has the talent of a top-five pick, but it's still unclear where his position will be in the pros, and he's seen as a longer-term project than most. Utah has the flexibility to be able to wait on him. Someday he could be backing up both Favors and Hayward. He's one of the most versatile players in the draft and a steal at No. 12. Christmas doesn't have a huge amount of upside, but he's was super productive his senior year, can play the 4 and the 5 and should provide some rebounding and shot blocking off the bench.
It's a lot of luck.
No doubt, but DL has earned my trust to the extent I think a trade such as the one mentioned above would be worth it - especially if they could nab Grant at 16 in the process - a guy I'd consider at 12 depending on who is available.
