What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

Carmello did lead his team to the Conference Finals and had an incredible playoffs in 08-09.

Carmello, while I don't like him or anything, has been on **** NYC teams. It's not his fault Amare leg's stopped working and NYC can't make any good FA signings or draft picks.

Come on man. Carmelo is 31. Nobody is giving up George for that ****.

Hold on to your seats, braughs! Kevin Garnett is about to be traded in an 8-team mega-ballbuster tarde!!!

K, here's my totally obsurd, hard up for a trade, trade idea.

I too will put zero thought into this.

New York

In- Lyels, Burke, Burks, Draft picks
Out- Carmello

Utah

In- D'Angelo Russell
Out- Lyles, Burke, Burks, Draft picks

Lakers

In- Carmello
Out- D'Angelo Russell

Doesn't this proposed deal make more sense if you swap Porz for Carmelo? Indiana only slightly thinks about this if it involves a player they think is once in a decade type (maybe Bird loves Porz and doesn't trust PG's injury and sees West and Hibbert leaving so blow it up......?).

NYK adds pieces and depth around Melo to make the playoffs next year?

Imo it makes zero sense with Melo/PG.

Lakers have to give up way more than that. We are trading 4+ assets for Russell while Lakers give up 1 for Carmello?

Ya, because not all assets are created equal. 4 assets aren't necessarily better than one.

So here is my question to you: What sort of deal would Phil take?

I've proposed Alec + Booker + Trey L + starter from a third team (who get picks from Jazz)
Could they bite?
Could they bite if you add Rodney? (would we offer him?)

Thoughts
.... Porz has much more value to the "building/developing" Jazz than to the "win now" Knicks
.... Knicks do not have a meaningful commitment to a player development program (reference Pistons and Darko: what could he have done with a team commitment to his development? Larry Brown was pissed to give any playing time to Darko at the expense of other players who were better today)
....Knicks may believe that Porz trade value may be at all-time high before his flaws start getting exposed (opposite could be true of course). Thought experiment: what assets could the Jazz have aquired for #5 pick last year? what assets could they get for Dante today? At some point, you start paying less for "potential"
....huge pressure in NYC about the pick (not sure that Phil cares, just saying)

I just don't know if the Knicks are really a good trade partner for the Jazz now that the draft has passed. I think the Knicks play it 'close to the vest' until the season starts and then maybe they will make adjustments.

who knows how the Knicks really value Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant at this point.. I could see them affecting how much they'd give up for Trigger Trey.

Phil has said he wants to move on in 3 years so maybe like many Knicks GM's before him, he leaves the next guy with a dearth of 1st round picks?? a loosely protected 2018 pick for Trey?

I just don't see them moving Porz either, he represents too much upside for them at this point.

I'm not sure Lakers would have to give up more. Carmello is a ball stopping 31 year old headache, and Russell is a highly coveted high draft pick

The domino is Doc Rivers and the cash-strapped, nose-diving ship he's captaining.
And Portland losing LMA and Matthews. And this is precisely what KOC feared would happen with DWill...that he'd leave as an UFA with Utah getting nothing in return.

DL said he got a call he was expecting. So obviously something has either been proposed or is in the works.

I though Hack was the trade master, I guess not.

And yes, chances are most likely nothing happens, but that doesn't mean something hasn't been proposed or proposed on conditional factors that didn't end up panning out.
I thought he said he got a call he wasn't expecting.

Guis, I've been brainwashed into thinking that cake baking is the only answer..... so this thread is making me real sad.

Can someone catch me up on what's going on? So we think he's being held out of SL because of a trade? How do we know he doesn't just have an ingrown toe nail? I mean if he's like Boozer as they say. He might be out 2 months with it.
