The thing is, he's soo long. Longer than Rudy. I just have a hard time believing he will be that bad defensively.

Yeah, in most situations he should be ok. Against small ball lineups, like when Draymond Green, Kevin Love, or Channing Frye is at center, he probably isn't playable that night. You don't want him 20' away from the basket.
 
The talk I'm hearing is that this is literally the most promising prospect who's ever come out of Bergisch. People are saying he's Rudy Gobert meets Arvydas Sabonis. He's broken every single record in Europe for a 7'3" German who's draft rights are owned by an NBA team who had 2 1990s finals appearances. That's pretty impressive. Not just one or two records but all of them.
 
He could make the second team so strong.

Pleiss, Trey, Elijah, Booker, ingles might need some scoring, but the other teams second unit would feel beat up after.
 
Most of the knocks you hear on Pleiss are similar to the knocks you heard on Rudy. I say bring him in and give him the backup spot. Done and done.

A second unit would be:

Pliess
Booker
Ingles
Hood or Burks
Trey

Millsap will be a third stringer. Hood or Burks are a HUGE offensive upgrade for that unit over Millsap.
 
If Pleiss is signed and Booker stays, Lyles is going to get more backup center minutes than Pleiss. Pleiss is just injury insurance.

Replace Trey with a real PG and make it Burks in that mix (Hood needs to start....far better floor spacer than Burks) and I think that group can hang with almost any 2nd team out there.

I think Pleiss is going to have foul issues while he adjusts to the NBA game, and Lyles will be our third sting PF to start the season. Booker will be very valuable at least until the trade deadline. Lyles will be getting minutes do to Pleiss fouls.

If Utah doesn't need the cap space, Booker will stay. Good backup on a great contract; it's a good chip to have at the deadline ($5m expiring). There could very well be a deal out there in February for Booker + Burke + picks.
 
Just saw a clip of TP shooting. His release speed makes ostertag look like Steph Curry. Super slow mo, 6 foot defender would have time to react and block. Fixable?
