Hmm. So Jordan/Pippen are paired, and James/Wade are too.

This is going to be an interesting year.

I'm intrigued by kicky's team too. Duncan, Dirk and Dominique. Interesting big 3 with another pick right around the corner. I'll admit that I considered both of those guys to team with Jordan/Pippen.

Ya. I wasn't going to consider him till the fourth round. Don't get me wrong. Outside of jazz players he's my favorite player but he's not a popular player on this site. Lot of people seem to think that he isn't conducive to winning. This is absolutely false. He absolutely elevated that bad sixers teams to relevance. How he carried that team of scrubs to the finals I will never no. He had absolutely no help. The nuggets situation he had to defer to Melo. Wasn't a good match.

Ya. Dominique in the third round was a steel. In Thursday I was considering weather to target him or Durant, but couldn't pass up Durant's versatility plus wanted to put shooters around Wilt.

You gotta remember, you are building a team for this audience, not for who would really be the best ever. There are some flat out dominant players of the 70s-90s who could still dominate today, but you will still see people pick Boozer over DeBusschere or [redacted...thought better of it considering when I am picking next....lol]. I'm sorry, I know you aren't supposed to talk about players, but the reality is you are building a team that will be popular on JF, not necessarily that would be the best team ever.

For sure

The fact that Shaq went before Chamberlain and that teams with Shaq do better than teams with Chamberlain every year is evidence of this. Shaq wouldn't take Shaq over Wilt but the majority of Jazzfanz would.

Agreed. Though last year I went with a lot of players in today's era as well as the 80's and 90's thinking my bigger faster and physically stronger players would win out on jazzfanz but ended up getting destroyed in the first round to a team that had lots of players from the 50's and 60's. I remember thinking my matchup would be a walk in the park. The other team ended up getting three times the votes I got. I asked why because I was shocked I lost let alone me getting that badly outvoted. One love said it was because a lot of my guys weren't established enough or something stupid like that.

One Love

His old username was HotttNickkk - but nobody could spell it correctly, so they just called him kicky.

Yeah. Must have been during my hiatus. As long as I could remember he was nick, kkk, a plethora of pejoratives, and now One Love, Baby Superman Wonder.

Wilt was the 7 foot version of LeBron (as far as athleticism goes), can you imagine him running the floor in todays game and setting a high pick n roll and exploding towards the rim?

This. Bad cases of recency bias here.

I am not denying that the current (say since 2000) crop of NBA players are, as a group, better athletes and better physical specimens. But Wilt averaged OVER 48 minutes PER GAME for an ENTIRE SEASON, while leading the league in all kinds of stats in a very fast-paced offense. I have a hard time seeing anyone do that nowadays. They always talk about resting players, letting them sit out games, coasting into the playoffs. And when Wilt played it was nearly a contact sport, it was not easy and happy and "oh you brushed his shirt, that's a foul". He played against Bill Russell one of the toughest bruisers to play the game. Yes our current crop are probably better athletes than the average player in Wilt's day but there is no denying that individuals from that day could stand the test of time and easily play in today's NBA. There is no denying that Wilt was a physical specimen far ahead of his time.
