What's new

Jazz coaching staff MUST get Horny.

It has to happen, right? He was at the press conference. If Loose Belt Layden is our primary assistant we're in trouble.

I, for one, applaud this move. Jeff Hornacek has worked wonders with Ronnie Brewer and Andrei Kirilenko's shooting. He has produced proven results. In fact, I'm surprised that the Jazz didn't just offer him the Head Coach/GM position.

oblig?

I like Ty. Hopefully everything works out. Will be different, that's for sure.

Marcus is full of ****. Hornacek was on 1280 this morning and said that they hadn't talked to him yet, but that he would be interested in working full time for the team if they asked him to do so.

If Hornacek comes on as assistant coach, he will be the prime cadidate for head coach by the end of the summer. No offense to Ty, who is nice, but until he proves otherwise I am not sure Ty is head coach material. Hornacek has the best pedigree for this, next to someone like Stockton. And Stock will never do it. But Horney might. I give it a thumbs-up, especially if we trade Deron and commence the rebuild.

The Jazz are retarded if they haven't even reached out to him. Who has a stronger candidacy for assistant? Terry Porter, Mike Brown? Kenny Natt? Maybe as primary assistants, but Hornacek is saying they haven't even contacted him, which concerns me and I think is the clearest sign that there's a significant departure from a managerial standpoint since LHM said the head coaching job was Hornacek's when it was available.

Are they just going to have Ty and Scotty as coaches tonight?

Horny was the smartest player I have ever seen on the basketball court, IMO, and that includes Stockton, Bird, and Magic, who are probably next in line.

TyCo needs to hire a veteran coach to assist him, someone who has been through this and can give him advice. Many coaches hire their former head coach, but since most of Corbin's are either dead or retired, he should reach out to someone local who can help him out.

For a moment there, I thought you were insinuating that Nissalke was dead. I don't have much on the updates these days.

I would LOVE to have Horny on board. Intelligent, hard-working, and seems to truly care about the Jazz.

he is at shootaround this morning so looking good for him to be an assistant.

You know, until I had the chance to hear Matt Harpring's "analysis" on a nightly basis, I believed he would make a good coach. Now? Not so much.
