Jazz to Sign Neto

My guess is he's the third PG behind Exum and Burke, unless Burke really goes to **** or Neto is a baller. Cotton probably the odd man out here.

I like the move - looks to be much more in the pure PG/facilitator mold than Dante or Trey, and lord knows we need more production out of the PG spot. Competition brings out the best in everyone.

I think shooting ability is easier to develop then lightning quickness and passing instinct. Neto is 2 for 3 - Trey is 0 for 3. I don't expect him to be a dynamic defender, but it'll be interesting to see how he compares to Trey.

I think Neto's speed/quickness is being overrated around here. I don't see it.

Red will be devastated.

I'll live. And I'll still root for this team as well. Did Cotton show enough to be picked up by someone else? I don't know. Obviously, this was always a borderline situation to begin with. He did well to get this far. It is disappointing, but I always knew the odds favored Cotton being cut.

If anything, this would indicate to me that Burke would get shipped off. It doesn't make sense that we would have drafted Hanlan in the second round if he had no chance of making the team and bringing Neto into the fold would simply accelerate that logjam.

DL's mantra has always been about assets; if he didn't think Hanlan would make the cut, he would have shipped the pick off for future considerations/cash or drafted an international to bake overseas. There's no equity in a guy you just cut and DL is smart enough to know that.

Let's be clear: Burke is highly unlikely to resign here knowing that he'll be a bench player and his rookie contract with team options makes him an attractive target for other teams.

Cotton will sign with the Spurs and get a chip... I hope a Trey trade is in the works. I'd rather have Cotton... I see a lot of potential there and they are the same age. If Cotton had been given Burke's opportunities I think we'd know who the better player was.

He's an NBA player... He will play somewhere this year.

I, for one, am not making the assumption that this news is bad for Cotton. Trey Burke also has a huge uphill climb to make the opening-day roster.

Because they recognize that a slow, short, unathletic, poor shooting, shoot-first PG (hint: initials of TB) little chance being much of an NBA player?

Interesting that so many are quick to trust DOL and company on Neto, when it was DOL and company that evaluated and selected Trey to begin with.

For the record, I like Cotton.

also, watching those highlights, Derrick Favors is going to get hit in the head with a Neto pass. Players need to be ready all the time with Neto on the court.
