Would trade Lyles for Randle?

Not understanding why so many say he's a dick? How has being laid back been construed as being a dick? I've listened to a lot of his interviews, and I'm not seeing anything that would even come close to looking like he's a dick.

Because that's how you jazzfanz. You are supposed to find a reason to hate people.

You are usually pretty good at this.

I'm not saying I wouldn't trade Lyles for Randle, but the whole argument that Randle is better because he was the 7th pick in his draft I would argue that had Lyles played at his true position with starter minutes he might have gotten picked inside the top ten. Not saying he would've but it's possible. And I'm not entirely sure the 14 draft was better then 15. Maybe top 3 were stronger but the rest I'm not too sure. If u took the lotto in 14 and lotto in 15 how would u rank them just taking their college careers into consideration.

Yes - watched Randle play last season (in preseason) and Cousins told him to calm down because he was knocking the Kings all around. Randle is a dirty beast.

Well he's from UK, so...

dumb answer, even if trolling..

A place where he sacrificed minutes and forced to play out of position probably costing him a couple draft slots costing him money and he never complained as far as I can tell
Thanks.

This is true about how we hate everyone but our own.

fwiw, I think Lyles has a higher ceiling.

Lyles is way more fluid vs. Randle being pitbull.

Neither are elite athletes (pretty similar, actually).

Randle has way more 'it' and Lyles is way more poised.

Having said all that, I take Randle.

Think I would keep Lyles right now.
Seems like DL said Lyles has extremely high BB IQ
and would have playbook down cold first game of season.
Kanter was 3 1/2 years with Jazz and was still clueless.

Yeah this. Remember when Hayward was drafted? He was underwhelm physically as well but he does have a high BB IQ and plays the game the right way.

Imagine if Lyles can make Hayward's type of growth/improvement physically I think he could be special.

Lyles. Randle just doesn't fit what we're trying to do. I don't expect either will be stars, so I want the one who's going to play his role. Randle and his baby raptor arms can kick rocks.

Gobert= Stud
Favors = still has chance to make an all-star appearance
Hayward = Stud. Will make an all-star team in next 3 yrs
Hood = oozing with potential. Could be incredibly lethal when fully realized.
Burks = love this kid. Still think he's going to make an all-star game or two.
Exum = He will be great.

That's six players that aren't done developing. All of whom have huge potential. Sure, Favors and Hayward are closer to their potential, but I think there is still some minor steps for them, and their skills will be amplifyed as those around them get better. We don't need Lyles to be a stud, we need him to grow into someone who can be solid, offering something unique.

I would keep Lyles. Just think he's a better fit for this team. I like his potential as a stretch 4... and I like that he should be able to switch on D and guard wings when needed. Randle's more physical down low but I think the spacing wouldn't be very good when he paired with Gobert or Favors.

Randle was red-flagged by some teams for having a stress fracture and pin in his foot. Then he inadvertently broke his own leg while running. He's too big a risk I'd think.

This. His attitude would fit perfectly, but not his body or skill set.

I'd rather play things out with Trey Lyles and see what the Jazz coaching staff and P3 can do with him. He's very physically talented and has already proven (on a huge stage) that he's willing to put team success over individual accolades. That's a huge thing in his favor IMO. Plus, his skill set really fits what the Jazz are looking to do.

I can see Lyles ending up as a poor man's Derrick Favors. Maybe less of a banger inside and more of a play-maker and pick and roll guy.

Word on da street was Lakers wouldn't include Randle in the Cousins deal... He has been working on the 3 ball.

I think we have forgotten the type of prospect he is. He will be a good face up four and is a better prospect than Lyles... both are completely unproven.
