Jazz Buyout Tibor Pleiss, Working On Contract

I'm not going to do a word-for-word translation (ain't nobody got time for that), but the gist of the article is:
  • Barcelona comes out extremely happy with the deal, because they unload his contract and get the 650,000 buyout.
  • According to the article Barça was "completely decided" on unloading Pleiss, because he didn't fit in well with their coach's schemes, and didn't want to continue paying his contract.
  • The article makes it seem like his contract was pretty big, but I don't know enough background information on the euroleague to know that.
  • Other European teams tried to make plays on Pleiss (including CSKA Moscow, according to rumors) but they were only willing to pay part of his contract (I'm a little unsure on that last part).
  • They say that playing in the NBA was always Pleiss's greatest dream
  • The article says that the Jazz like his range and his wingspan, and that he arrived in UT on June 27th to talk about leaving for the NBA.

Thanks so much!

I've been saying this all along. Rudy better learn that hook shot. For Pleiss it is about automatic. Give Rudy that one shot he becomes unstoppable. I think we have a potential great one in Pleiss.
Wow, love your optimism, but before we say his hook shot is automatic, let's watch him try it a few times in the NBA.
Potential great one. Again, the optimism is fantastic, but he's already 25 and his Euro team apparently couldn't unload him fast enough.

So, in Europe they call him "The Octopus".

I think that sounds like a soft, squishy marine animal... And while the octopus is admittedly a pretty badass animal, I think we can do better.

How about...

The Kraken?!

Larry didn't **** it behind his head that much at all, if any.

Congrats on naming only 4 NBA 7-footers with better mechanics. Not bad for being in top 5, Tibor!

I kinda like the Octopus. Lol.

Octopleiss.

Jack Cooley and/or Jerrett are done.

I think we can afford to keep one of them. We have 15 roster spots. If I had to guess... 3PGs, 6 wings, 6 bigs. The 3 pg spots are taken, The wings are Burks, Hood, Hayward, Millsap, Ingles ... +1 more(Johnson, Hanlan?), the bigs - Gobert, Favors, Lyles, Pleiss, Booker... +1(Cooley or Jerrett?)...

It feels like we have 2 roster spots left available and we will invite a bunch of players for pre-season camp where they will compete for them.

No details. Keep in mind Pleiss onset have much leverage, cuz any sum would be way more than he's getting in Europe. Like Tomic is making 3 mill euro a year. Pennies. What a ****ing moron.

With the Euro dropping so it is very close to 1:1 from Euro to Dollar it's a good time to come to the states and get paid in Dollars vs the shrinking Euro. I'm sure the Euro will go up again, but still.

IDK, I'm not going through every player who is 7' tall. His mechanics aren't unreal though.

Unreal for a 7-footer. Unreal shooting percentage from the FT line for a 7 footer.

We can compromise and call him the "Giant Octopleiss".

Yea it's not Kraken size, but if you know much about the octopus you know they have good vision and that they are very smart and crafty.

I hope Pleiss is the same.

Cocking the ball behind your head is a pretty big no-no in shooting. It's not unreal.

for the third time, I was speaking relative to his peers. You have named 4 7-footers with better mechanics. Given the vast landscape of basketball, that puts him in unreal company. If you name more with better mechanics his size, I'll take away the unreal label.
