Jazz Buyout Tibor Pleiss, Working On Contract

The real upside is he already shows some natural ability, and a real array of moves around the basket, a VERY nice hook shot, that he can even get off in traffic with accuracy, and he is coming to play with a very solid developmental staff. Where will we be with him and Rudy in 2 years? It makes me shudder, and should make the rest of the NBA tremble with fear.

Aww.

Cy suffers from schadenfreude.

Brain-scanning studies show that schadenfreude is correlated with envy in subjects. Strong feelings of envy activated physical pain nodes in the brain's dorsal anterior cingulate cortex; the brain's reward centers, such as the ventral striatum, were activated by news that other people envied had suffered misfortune. The magnitude of the brain's schadenfreude response could even be predicted from the strength of the previous envy response.[36][37]

Google does not translate hoops jargon very well, but this gets the jist. To my Spanish speaking posters feel free to clean this up.

.....Barca could have better not come close: not only will not have to stay Tibor Pleiss or take part of their record next season in another European team but also receive $ 625,000 in respect of the transfer. That is the amount you can spend NBA teams to buy the freedom of a player out of the league, which is precisely what, according to sources close to the player, have decided to make the Utah Jazz to release Pleiss the year contract left to him in the Palau. The franchise in Salt Lake City has the rights to the German NBA player, who was elected in the second round (31st position) of the 2010 draft by the Nets. Since then their rights have changed hands several times (Atlanta, Oklahoma) before joining Utah Jazz.

Barca had decided entirely Pleiss progress, which was never fit into the schemes of Xavi Pascual. Throughout the season we studied its possible transfer to another computer but none was willing to take the high profile that the German has in the Catalan club. Bayern Munich Svetislav Pesic loved him but was only willing to contribute a smaller share of their record, which caused the player to stay in Palau. In recent days there had arisen the rumor of a possible interest from CSKA Moscow, but the own Joan Creus said this morning after the draw for the groups of the Euroleague that "in the Jazz are very happy with Pleiss and I think that points to the NBA ".

The exit to the NBA was the ideal for Pleiss, who has never hidden that play in the American League is his dream, and for the club, which could well rid of him and his high profile. In the end the Jazz have allowed all end up happy. Curiously, the first objective of the team from Salt Lake City was also Barca Ante Tomic, who is also the NBA rights, the renewal of the Croatian for the club led the Jazz girasen his eyes to Pleiss.

Pleiss led from the 27th of June in Salt Lake City to assess US franchise with its possible jump to the NBA. During this time the German power forward 25 years and 2.18 has been training with personnel Jazz, who have finally given the OK to joining. In American franchise they have particularly appreciated his shooting range and scale.

Pleiss output Barca towards the NBA could be confirmed in the coming hours, and the signing of the new contract from the German. Sources close to the American team speak of a multiyear contract, but has not transcended its economic value.

In the Jazz inside Pleiss share the limelight with other European, French Rudy Gobert, elevated to the status of a holder after last season. The German arrives to become the main relay in the position of 'Five'.

Exum/Burke/Neto
Burks/Hood/Hanlan
Hayward/Ingles/Millsap
Favors/Booker/Lyles
Gobert/Pleiss/Cooley

that puts us at 15, even-steven. I think I'm very fine with that lineup-in general. Versatility if injuries come up, maybe leave Cooley on an un-guaranteed deal.

I'd rather keep 4 PGs and keep Cotton around, in case Burke gets traded, but wouldn't complain about that 15 at all.

Lemme grab the tweet.

EDIT: NBA Pleiss leaving @FCBbasket for @utahjazz as @arbarkas had reported - According to @josehuguet the buy out is paid https://www.eurohoops.net/?p=108863

We have so much ****ing height now, y'all. Pleiss is a legit 7-footer :o

From Strutter:

Cool thread bro, thanks for jinxing the deal. Doc Rivers is probably at Pleiss's house ready to kidnap him to back-up Deandre Jordan.

So wtf? Is he signed?
If not, is it a for-gone conclusion?
The article says we paid the buy out.
We wouldn't do that if we were not signing him right?

I'm sure there's a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo that has to happen. Lawyers will confirm both parties have signed off on the buyout and Pleiss is free of his contract. Probably will take a few days to cross the T's, dot the I's and transfer the $650K.

I'm assuming that (a) the article which said we paid the buy-out (post 3 of thread) is correct, and (b) that we wouldn't have paid the buy out if we hadn't already signed him or at least come to a verbal agreement. That's why I've left the thread stickied even though there's been no official announcement yet. But I suppose either of those assumptions could be wrong.

We bought him out... they'll figure out a deal most likely.

If not since he is bought out maybe he has more trade value because he is fully unencumbered. Maybe we are looking for something a little different and are willing to shop around a little while first.

You don't pay $625,000 for flexibility. They either have paid the buyout and will sign him to a contract, or a European team will pay the buyout and he'll stay over there.

They might be working on a deal... say with Boston for Olynyk and they wanted us to buy him out to make certain it won't hit a snag... cash considerations go into deals all the time so it wouldn't be unheard of. Also, wouldn't count against the $3M we can send out in deals per year (not that we'd use it up).

I'd say its 95% likely we just sign him and there are some paperwork issues, but DL loves him some flexibility... it might be his favorite thing.
