What's new

Welcome Ty Corbin - new head coach of the Jazz

Ty's heart isn't in it. He had no idea this would be happening.

Yes, it's an opportunity. But I won't be shocked if he's gone at the end of the season.

Classy on Ty to turn the focus back to Jerry and the Millers.

What a lame assumption. It's entirely possible that Ty is behind this entire ordeal, and that his heart is COMPLETELY "in it".

It's always the ones you least suspect. Except for when it isn't.

I've wanted to see Corbin step up because he seems ready. I would've hoped it would happen under better circumstances. but he's a good pick.

....this is a good move. The players just weren't responding to Sloan...and neither was this board! I'm as old school as they come.....but Sloan needed to go! I think he was losing it mentally as well.....you know, just having too many "senior" moments and it was best to do it now, before he ended up going to the wrong bench after running out on the floor to protest a call!

Is this the cross eyed guy that can barely put together a sentance after halftime? Yippie

I'm looking forward to a new era. I've liked listening to Ty coming out of halftime on the telecasts. Hopefully he brings fresh new ideas and energy to the job.

I just hope he takes his time adjusting and doesn't panic and call a timeout in the middle of a 0-15 run or review film or something stupid and over-reactionary like that.

Good luck to Ty. I'm guessing it is not coincidence that he did not end up coaching another team when he was interviewed. Ty has known for a long time that this was very much possible, as did the Millers and the rest of the Jazz front office--in Business you always prepare for things that are inevitable (we all know Sloan only had a few years left at best), so that they can be handled correctly.

Seriously? He's wanted to be a head coach for a couple years now.

I pray we don't lose the fist pumps with him as the head coach.

That is all.

Actually, I like Corbin and hope he does well. I just hope he has the support of the team unlike say an Adrian Dantley where it was obvious the players didn't respect him at all.

I think this is the best move the franchise could make with such short notice. I'm not sure that announcing as THE head coach (not interim) was the best idea as I think he should have a trial period, but it might've just been a statement the organization was trying to make to the team.

I like Corbin. He is the only guy in the organization that seems proactive and not just a guy in tow with Sloan philosophy (which isn't to say he isn't a supporter of it, but that he seems to think for himself). I really hope Hornacek is the assistant and not Scott Layden.

Welcome, Ty. Good luck.

Difference with that is they loved Karl and Karl was out due to injury. It seems to be a quite opposite situation with Sloan - not that the players hate him, but it really seems like they've been playing at 75% the past month or so. The offense hasn't looked this muddy in a really long time and that's usually due to not expending effort to make it crisp. Players aren't going to play hard for coaches they don't have full trust in.
