LAFAYETTE, La. -- Police said two people, including the suspected gunman, were killed in a shooting Thursday night at at a movie theater in Lafayette, La.

Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft said two people were dead and there were "a number of injuries." Brian David, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police, told CBSN several of the injured were being transported to local hospitals.

The extent and number of injuries were unclear. Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette told CBS News it was treating three patients.

Police got the call around 7:30 p.m. According to Craft, the gunman entered the Grand Theater on Johnson Street, a multiplex, during a screening of "Trainwreck," and opened fire.

"It was a typical Thursday night in our community until this happened," Lafayette Chief Administrative Officer Dee Stanley told CBSN. Stanley said he could not confirm the number of people who were shot, but described their injuries as life-threatening.

The identity of the shooter has not been released.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said he was monitoring the situation.

Now you should post all the theaters that allow guns and have came in handy to stop a killer from killing more people

nah not my job.
but don't u think these mass shooters go out research what or what is not a gun free zone?

so isnt it logical that whenever you(as a law abiding citizen) go to a theater research first if it s a "sitting duck zone" or a "2nd ammendment zone". so you dont become a sitting duck.

No I don't.
Murders happen all over the place all the time regardless of whether it's a gun free zone or not.

I will never choose what theater I go to based off whether guns are allowed or not.
Personally I would rather go to a theater where guns are not allowed. I don't feel like being surrounded by strangers with guns (alot of them not even properly trained and incompetent with firearms) makes me safer

mass shootings happen only in gun free zone.
then you have different kinda murders which most requere motives. meaning it is less likely to happen to random people.
unless you pissed off lots of people. or people financly gain from your dead.
only other random motiveless murdervictim you can be is from a serialkiller, gang related(but then you have to be in gang related area) or gang iniation where they pick random (white) dudes and beat them to dead

well thats your perogative. lots of people use your logic.

Welp....better go buy more guns before prices go up.

Naw, in all seriousness, it's terrible that people are doing this. I mean, I just don't understand what would cause somebody to want to kill another person. I just don't get it.

I could understand why someone would want to kill someone (If they raped your kid, killed someone in your family, self defense, etc) but killing random people seems really dumb and doesn't make sense to me.

(I honestly don't think I would want to kill anyone for any of the legit reasons I listed above. It's just not in me.
Unless you hurt my dog. Then I might have to kill a mother ****er)

What I would like to hear is someone's solution for all of this. No political crap.

Just what would you do to stop these shootings?

Ban guns or turn every place into TSA airports.

Pretty much the only things you can do. America has gone overboard crazy and there is really no way to cure it.

It's not possible.

What I wish is that American would stop having love affairs with guns. Our culture is much to infatuated with their guns. Guns are too prevalent imo.

I have multiple co workers who have assault rifles that they love and always talk about and spend thousands of dollars on.

Just doesn't make much sense to me.
I think some people would give up their children before their guns. (A little hyperbole but I honestly know more about some of my co workers guns than I do about their kids)

And how are you going to ban guns? They don't degrade with good care, and there's far too many out there to actually eliminate them.

And we have that pesky little amendment to deal with.
