The many comments from management/coaching about their commitment to re-identify as a franchise known for player development can only lead us as fans to believe that Trey is going nowhere soon. I think that's a good thing, personally. I don't want to see him traded-- I'm optimistic he'll make a significant leap this year... although, I'll gladly eat my words when/if he doesn't. What confuses me is why-- if he does suddenly turn into a really good backup PG and increases his value as a player-- so many on this board think of him only as more trade-able. His performance has fallen short of expectations, and now we're hoping he begins to meet them... so we can see him traded? Trade him for what, exactly? Another backup PG? Why would you not want to have a really good, willing (it appears) backup PG who knows the system and has done nothing to make us believe he's unhappy here?
Might as well trade him for nothing if you get back Embiid. He's going to miss a 2nd season. And reports were that he was fat and slow now, If he's not I'd consider it though.where does the idea come from of trading Burke for embiid? I want that
I don't think it's "giving up on him" if he's included in a package for a player who is an upgrade somewhereon the roster. The Jazz can (and should) try to upgrade their players when possible. Unfortunately, that sometimes means moving a player as an asset. I think that Burke has value, and so the Jazz can get a player who fits better by including him in a package at the trade deadline. Especially if he plays well to start the season.I say we keep Burke, if only because he's been very professional especially when he got demoted to 6th man and for the mental fortitude it takes to handle said demotion without becoming a total pain in the @$$. Hopefully, he turns a corner, really really rooting for him here. Besides, the Jazz could benefit being known as a franchise that develops its players really well and doesn't give up on them so easily.
It's probably too late to trade him.
What makes you say he had little trade value? Did you see what teams were asking to move out of their spots. The price of moving up in the draft this year was tremendous, So he may have had quite a bit of trade value, just not enough to move down for.Agree. He obviously had little trade value at draft time. Only hope is that he plays well during the first part of the season and another team has injury problems.
I think we should trade him for Lillard or LeBron.
