Exum Injured

Cadaver. It was apparently the best way for it.

Assuming your body doesnt reject it or have infections that is the best way to go. My hamstrings never recovered from being cut up. Pulled them all the time for 3-4 years after the surgery from stupid simple stuff.

He was diagnosed with an ACL tear in Slovenia.

Great way to start the day.... #H$%
From the 4 Friendly games... don't know how the Boomers were going to do w/ Tall Blacks...
and now, with this injury to Dante... just don't care. Total crap.

I tore my ACL, MCL, PCL and LCL all at once. Being a skier I've known tons of people that have torn ACL's. I think it's pretty easy for a doc to diagnose a ACL tear with a simple hands-on stability test of a knee. My docs have done the test to me a ton of times... it can tell them a lot about a knee.

In watching it again I think the reason he blew his ACL is that as he landed his toe was pointed inwards.

If you get off a ski lift and the tail of your ski is on top of the persons ski next to you and they ski ahead, you fall backwards(like you're sitting down) and that is a classic ACL tear scenario...your toes go inwards and your weight goes back...and boom!

That sounds like a terrible injury. I've only ever seen that a handful of times in pro football players and those have been some horrific injuries.

Yup, happened in an avalanche in Alaska. It was a terrible life-changing injury. I still ski 60+ days/season and ride a bunch of moto/mt. bike, but I can't run at all really.

Kudos to you for surviving an avalanche, destroying your knee and then continuing to ski/ride. I wrecked my back when I was hit head on by a drunk driver and I can hardly do anything athletic anymore. Can't even imagine how awful that injury must have been. The rehab must have been grueling.

Waiting for an official diagnosis, but expecting the worst. Anything less than a full ACL tear will be a huge relief IMO.

Yeah, I feel very fortunate to still be able to do things, even at a reduced capacity. Rehab was a lot of being patient and savoring the little improvements.

Sorry to hear that you got taken out by a drunk driver. Hopefully that guy is paying for his actions. Causing an accident while drunk should have a mandatory minimum sentence.

She pled guilty, which helped a lot with the lawsuit because my son was hurt a lot worse. He nearly died twice as a result of an injury from the accident. I agree on a mandatory minimum sentence for drunk drivers, but she didn't get much in terms of punishment. Hopefully someday she'll at least apologize to us in person. As it stands, I forgave her a long time ago. Went to a dark place being angry about it and realized I needed to just let it go completely. So I did. Much healthier to do that than to become bitter about it.

Glad you are all still around, and that you could get past it all eventually.

Probably could start a thread about this alone, but I agree with this 100%. In 2010 a drunk/stoned/distracted 19 year old kid driving a minivan hit and killed my brother-in-law. The kid was high (weed and something else they said), drunk, and texting as he sped in at 75 MPH and hit my BiL from behind as he was sitting on his Harley at a red light near Birmingham AL. The force of the impact was enough for my BiL's Harley to completely rip the drivers side wheel assembly off of the van and his head struck the van's A pillar hard enough to bend it at about a 30 degree angle. Destroyed his helmet and killed him instantly. My sister in law (wife's sister) and her family pushed for a harsher penalty and they actually tried the kid for vehicular murder. He is now serving a 20 year sentence I believe. They need to be WAY more strict on things like that. Stop locking up people who possess weed after their pass has expired and use that money and space to take care of POS's like this.

So Dante did the next step patterning his game after D-Rose ;)

Jokes aside. I hope he's got only a ruptured ACL. Most of the time when recovery is long it's because the players injure other parts of their knee as well that also need surgery/recovery.
Clean ACL ruptures are the Adrian Peterson scenario. Especially if the meniscus isn'd damaged. That would be huge for him.
If the Jazz are having him flying over right away, the initial diagnosis is probably accurate. If it was a minor injury, Slovenia is like 1 plane hour away from Munich where some of the best knee specialist are practicing and have him diagnosed there.

Quick recovery!

Someone did say on twitter that ACL tears are sometimes initially misdiagnosed and are actually just meniscus tears, but probably not.

Great. What are the chances Exum begins doing steroids or some other illegal substance to aide in his rehab?
