Bring in Karl Malone!

Maybe Malone should just buy the franchise. He'd probably be a similar owner to Larry - just a little dumber, and crazier.

Here is an artist's impression of Jazz owner Karl Malone dealing with Jazz coach George Karl after Karl lipped him off.

I like that idea a lot more than the idea of him coaching. A larger-than-life, respected presence that can become involved but isn't and can't all of the time. Maybe.

First order of business would be to trade Deron, because he's going to LeBron anyway. Second order of business would be to get Jeff Hornacek onboard, and have he and Karl go to Greg's office and inform Greg that there will be no player revolts tolerated. None. If Greg can't back Horney and Mail on this, then it's a no-go. Assuming Greg says OK, fine, we take the squad as-is, and slowly figure out who the workers are. Reward the workers with the minutes, regardless of talent. Guys who don't work and don't get the team cohesion, don't play. Malcontents who begin yapping in the locker room? Waive them. Go to the D-League if necessary.

Swap out Millsap for Jefferson and I think both teams are happier. They'd need something resembling a C, and Jefferson ruins everything the Jazz are trying to do when he's not unstoppable.

I just hate having a small lineup. I think Millsap has more value because of his contract. Jefferson isn't playing like he should be playing according to the rest of the league.

We need to play big. I am tired of being undersized and getting beat against the elite teams every time we play them. Jefferson is starting to get better and better. And I think he is a better weak side defender and he is rebounding better than Millsap is right now. While Hibbert clogs the lane. Size is what we should be after.

Collison would be more effective in our system because its point guard oriented like the offense he ran in NO.

I don't get the hate on Al. Previous 7 games, Al produced 22 points, 10 boards, 2 blocks and better than 50% from the field. What else do you want? He does tend to have a bad game every 7-10 games but deal with it. You're not going to get Dwight Howard #'s from Al, live with it

People have forgotten to stop blaming Al for everything since the beginning of the season. He hasn't been the reason we're losing for awhile.

I doubt we make a trade before the deadline.

But the only solution I see for the team is this.

D-Will - Watson - Price
Bell - Hayward
Miles - AK - Evans
Jefferson - Millsap
Fesenko - Okur - Elson

Fesenko needs to start at play at least 20 minutes a night. He clogs the lane and that is what is the rock to good defenses. There is a major chain reaction to not having somebody clog the lane. It totally opens up the other floor when you don't have that.

But once we have Fesenko starting we need to best 3 point shooters on the court to keep it spread. AK cannot start with this front court. Bell and Miles are the best 3 point shooters (Until Hayward gets some confidence. Won't happen this year) we have. Millsap will still play close to 30 minutes a night. But we need to set the tone defensively in the beginning of games.

I actually agree. He boxes out. We like boxing out.

BOX OUT MILLSAP

^ it is very similar to what the Lakers are doing. Millsap becomes our Odom. Jefferson is our Gasol and Fesenko is our Bynum.

Bell and Miles will spread the court enough so Deron can work his magic in the mid range area.

I just don't think Jefferson has the speed (on D) or range to play PF in the modern NBA. I've seen no evidence he can consistently play winning, productive basketball, either, even if he's been better lately (in what have mostly been losses).

As a 4 in the Jazz system, his importance as a distributor would be highlighted and he isn't close to being good at that. But with that point and with your point about Collison and our system - to be accurate - we don't know **** anymore as far as how this team will play or how it will be designed to.

I agree, presently I think Al would only be a situationally-effective PF. The Jazz need atleast 1 big to be able to pass from both the low-post and high-post (w/Memo and Boozer we had 2-which helped makes Utah an elite offensive team). Utah's screen-roll defense is horrid enough as it is - put Al at the 4 and Fes or Hibbert at center and I think our defense would actually be worse against teams like San Antonio, Dallas and OKC.

No one knows what the Jazz offense will be during the next basketball season. With some changes, who knows how muh better or worse some pieces could fit.

I'll continue to be hopeful and watch this team; but there is definitely a darkness at the top of the stairs in this franchise which makes me think they may very well be living on borrowed time as far as being a quality basketball team is concerned.

Right. I have that feeling too. Sloan's departure is just the first sign of that change in philosophy. With LHM you knew he wouldnt spend beyond a certain point and he was a little emotional about certain things. Otherwise he stuck firmly to his principles on loyalty and stability.
With Greg I dont even get those vibes.
