$200+..yeah **** that. I would swing for up to about $150 maybe but $225+ is ludicrous for my fluctuating fatass.

Right now, I ****s with Kapital Jeans, and nothing comes remotely close.

No offense, good sir, but here in Los Angeles, those jeans would be worn by either Euro trash or more likely Armenians.

Those on the board that think these jeans are "hipster" are completely out of ****ing touch.

they're not hipster, because they're above whatever that garbage fad even means. They're a quality jean with a unique look and a great fit-- something that stands the test of time, like the Levis jeans they emulate.

I couldnt give two ****s whether my wardrobe would be perceived as "unhip" in ****ing LA.

You should always wear what makes you happy and I am glad you do.

spent two weeks in LA, and to say the city's fashion sense was overrated would be an understatement.

A sprinkle of cool shops on Melrose here and there. A ****-ton of 5 panel-hats, New Balances, and drop-crotch pants. Nothing bold, all wall-following.

I am not sure if the reference of Melrose was you being serious or not. In regards to the latter stuff in your post, I'm guessing you were walking around Fairfax Blvd. That area has always been known for having this weird mixture of skate, hip-hop, and whatever else you want to call it. You described it well.

LA has everything, braugh. You were just in the wrong spots. Besides, it's too easy to **** on LA. It's also somehow too easy to ignore the obvious fact -- amidst the continuous sprawl and re-settlement of places within -- that there's absolutely no way to capture the place in simple categorical statements.

In other words, yawwwwwwn at your post.

also LOL, dude

So now that they call LA, South Bay. Does that make the Yay Area, North Bay? Even here in Houston, there's a push to call it the, Dirty Bay. I'm just glad we all live in the Bay.

Yadidididida?

has two flagship stores of brands that I like, that we don't have here in Edmonton. A tourist tractor-beam, obvs-- if that makes the product of the stores somehow less cool then idgaf. Favourite store in LA is H. Lorenzo.

I don't doubt it. It's a massive city-- still, LA is constantly on the butt-end of jokes in the fashion world, and I didn't really see any fresh vibes in terms of fashion when I was there. New York is simply a completely different animal.

Just calling it as I saw it. Don't need to get so defensive. You can't tell me you don't see millions of 5-panel hats, New Balances, Supreme backpacks, button-downs with pineapples, etc. Obviously I'm generalizing, which is why it'd be cool to hear you describe some of the different scenes of LA for us who don't live there.

I wouldn't call it defensive. I'd be saying the same thing if you were ****ting on Buenos Aires or any other major metropolis; it's just a nonsensical statement. I think I'm also resistant to New York getting automatic recognition as some arts-and-culture hub.... most of the trends I see coming out of there are obnoxious... and the ascension of Brooklyn has been beyond obnoxious. The NY-as-defacto-culture-hub is an antique notion that we can't ditch because the horde of marketers are still (and probably always will be) the largest group of sycophants in human history.

Here's the thing about LA. It's never been about the clothes here. It's about the body. In NY you can be a clothes horse. Not here. Body. Second, I pretty much guarantee if you were interview every person you saw in LA who was shamelessly following a trend, you'd find that more than 80% of them have lived here less than 2 years. It's hard to condemn a city when its those people who are trolling through the "melrose shops" of LA. That'd be like condemning Las Vegas for the people in the casinos.

One of the best things about "fashion" in LA is that the place is really accepting of the weirdest **** you want to cultivate. You don't have to be sharp-dressed. Show some body, and feel good about yourself. Looking like a Brooklyn Douche is a copout.

I dunno, i love San Fran. My friends from San Fran love LA. There must something about it people like. I give LA the benefit of the doubt.
