I asked the guys credentials in a teasing way and it sort of spun out of control from there. That wasn't my intent, but oh well. Hopefully he has thick enough skin to take it. If he doesn't then my advice is that a career as a writer is not for him.

I just skimmed the thread and didn't pay much attention to it and didn't want to get involved in it but from glancing through the thread it seemed like the dude was getting bashed and flamed pretty hard for very little wrong doing on his part.

This. The whole thing started out in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. It was a legitimate, but ultimately unimportant, objection. It's unfortunate that a few decided to take it to the next level.

The terrifyingly inappropriate 1-2-3 answer was essentially: his job is writing about the Jazz, he's willing and able to research any questions asked, and he's a Jazz fan of thirty years.
