Summer 2015: FIBA games of Utah Jazz players

If you look at the players individually you get the impression that France should rout Spain easily. But they don't play well as a group. There are a lot of good coaches in Europe but the French coach is not one of them, in fact he is hideous. And refs... This is semi-finals ffs, let the guys play hard. Instead every single touch was a foul, which effectively turned this into a WNBA game and helped otherwise helpless Spain. Americans may or may not know but this generation of Spain is arguably the most disliked national team across Europe because they're whiny floppers. They play the refs more than their opponents. In this case this helped them tremendously.

Gobert got exposed on his 1vs1 defense. He should not go for blocks that often. Polished offensive bigs ala Brook Lopez and Pau Gasol will eat him alive inside. Gobert is young, he may be a DPOY caliber player already and I'm sure he will improve on this department. And remember, we have Derrick Favors! The most underrated big in the entire league!

Too bad clueless French coach never even bothered to use Bear offensively even when he had to try just to tire old Gasol... So we don't even know if he has progressed offensively. Fortunately we have a much better head coach.

This also why these international tournaments are so important for players' development and growth : Gobert will have learned a lot in this defeat, in being beaten by Gasol, in being tricked into fouls, etc.. All this on a "winner takes all" game, in front of 27 000 fans, with massive pressure. These are the games that make you players grow. One game like this is worth many many many regular season games.
 
I'm still waiting for an apology from that German trash that somehow became a mod... There are a few Spanish jazzfanz here that might have taken offense with his comment.

Except that he goes on with a neg rep. No I got his case, he's one of these supremacist German that refers to Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain as the PIGS, in an effort to feel better about his small weiner.

We should have never joined the German run EU in the 1st place, I want my peseta back!

I thought the PIGS thing was in reference to their economic policies that are seen as selfish to the rest of the EU.
 
Yeah I'm aware of this. Then break up the EU which was a failure in the 1st place. Trying to merge over 20 countries with hundreds of years of very diverse cultures and history was a very very bad idea.
This discussion should all go in a different thread, titled 'The low standards for becoming a mod in Jazzfanz.com'

Did they merge? They share a currency and have set some standards but I wouldn't say that the EU has "merged" countries.

Economically they have, all the national banks are under the European Central Bank's scope, so what happens is that each government is in debt with their correspondent national bank, which in turn is in debt with the European Central Bank, which dictates who, when and how much has to be paid to whom. So for example Greece needs some money injected into their system so let's have Norwegian, German and Spanish citizens pay for Greece's bad economical mgmt, and so on... Prices went up, inflation went up when the Euro was put in place. Is it an economical merge, absolutely.

And everyone knows that it's run by Germany. Now they're accepting thousands of Syrian refugees into Germany and demanding other countries to do the same under the EU standards. Spain was asked to admit the 3rd highest number of refugees of all countries, as if we didn't have enough with the Northern Africa and eastern Europe immigration already. Screw you Merkel and screw you European Parliament. Your fort will come down.

I think people are taking way too much from 1 game. Did Pau expose his 1vs1 defense in the game in Chicago, too? Or last year in the FIBA Worlds? Did a polished big like Aldridge expose him in the numerous matchups they had last year? This one should simply go to Pau's credit and speaks very little about Gobert(maybe the most it speaks about him is that he still needs to add strength to battle in the low post and not give up too deep of a position). It was a truly amazing performance from a future hall-of-famer who had one of the best games of his career. When such a player is on and every shot is falling, he's practically impossible to be stopped, even by the best of defenders. Kudos to Pau, and I hope Gobert uses it as a learning experience and is even better next time.

I agree with this, down to the last letter.

If I were to written it myself, though, I probably would have said something about how the whistle was definitely going Pau's way.... amongst the other stuff.

The strange thing is Gobert utterly destroyed Gasol when they played in Chicago last season, so he could definitely do better. Then again, Gobert is not the reason why they lost here, he actually made good things. Parker and Diaw are just a bit too old now so there was no real leader on the court anymore.

Now they need rebuilding based on PG X / De Colo / Batum / Lauvergne / Gobert with Fournier / Ajinca as 6th / 7th man. PG could be Diot / Heurtel / Westermann. This team still has a future.

Coaching wasn't that good, I would fire Collet, he didn't find the solutions yesterday and on paper, France probably had the better players, so I would change the coach.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed by the French coach at all. I know Rudy isn't a good offensive player, but I feel like he should have been more creative in setting up looks to get Rudy the ball around the basket.
