Crazy that he is declining a 16 million dollar per year offer. He is basically rejecting what would be a max deal under the current CBA. I guess he is really hoping he is worth a lot under the new CBA, because I don't see much potential for stats improvement within the Warriors. He is still going to be a 9-12 ppg and 5 rebound player who shoots it well and plays pretty good defense (barring a major injury to Thompson or Curry, though that might just make him seem worse if he has to actually create for himself consistently).

Does anyone here think he will get more money under the new CBA?

Won't the max extension for 4 year players jump to 20 million + at the end of this season? It could be 16-20 million(over the course of the contract) he passes on if he signs an extension now. I would probably say "No thanks" too.

Yes, I think the 4 year max for a player off their rookie contract will be like 20 million, or something close. I just don't know why anyone would spend that much on him. He isn't a max player under the new CBA. He might be 16 million under the new one, but I dont think so. Hard to predict what anyone will do, but I just think this will be the best deal he can get. I just don't think the risk is worth it for him personally because I dont think he will get much more than that, if anymore at all. So he is risking a bad season or bad injury that could drive his value down without, what I believe, much potential for improvement within his team.

Somebody will pay him. There will be a lot of teams with money.

All I'm saying is it's insane that someone who averaged 10 ppg last year is turning down 16 million per year.

I agree.
This new tv deal is causing lots of insanity

Obviously someone will pay him. But will someone pay him significantly above 16 million?

What do you think he will get?

I think 16 million is his floor. 16 is the new 12. In a normal year he probably wouldn't get max money but next year won't be normal. With the cap set to continue to climb in the coming years there will just be so much money for FAs. I give it a 90% chance he gets a few hundred thousand less than the new max ext. He will get the max money but he won't get the automatic raises of a true max.

So you are predicting he gets significantly more than 16, probably closer to 20?

If you are paying Harrison Barnes 20 million dollars, you have severely handicapped your team no matter how high you think the cap is going to go up. Projected Salary cap is around 105 million in 2019 so are you willing to have 20% of your team's salary going to Harrison Barnes? The Warriors can get away with that now because they are criminally underpaying their star. That situation won't last forever.

Money isn't infinite, regardless of where the cap ends up. Barnes isn't worth the max now, and he won't be worth the new max next year. I predict he ends up signing a similar offer next year (16/y), barring injuries or what have you.

A team like the Hornets might still take the bait though.

GSW probably doesn't match but someone will throw crazy money at him.

Why would anyone throw crazy money at him?
Cause the new tv deal.

I saw lots of dudes get overpaid big time and get crazy money lately

16m is serious overpay for Barnes.
I don't disagree with that. Also won't be surprised when he gets that much
