What's new

Vegas lines: Utah at 40.5

Except...
1) The Bucks play very, very good defense.
2) Jason Kidd's a really good coach.

28:1 to win the East.

With Monroe's arrival and Jabari's return they could play .500 ball, and cruise into the playoffs. Especially if Jabari shoots much better from 3.

Giannis is too much of an X-factor to bet against, you better hope he gets injured if ya do.. He's the star, Middleton's the first option, Monroe's the "check-down" option when the halfcourt offense goes stale/clock's low.. Plus they have a good collection of other young players, many of which are in their first off-season with the team.

If Monroe can have a calming effect on their half-court offense, I'd say the over is probably pretty safe.

This is going to pay for my season tickets again this year.... Or make them twice as expensive but I feel pretty good about the line. Not nearly as good as last year but still pretty good.

We will see on the Bucks.

I just have no faith in MCW being able to play with that team, Giannis developing a jumper, or a Monroe/Parker front-court being able to defend. 11-18 in the East post all-star in a conference made up of mostly trash is just embarrassing. They never figured out how to win with MCW and now they are adding in Monroe as well as integrating Parker back into the fold? I expect early season struggles. I'm going to predict 38 wins.

The East should be stronger this year too given the return of Paul George and Carmello Anthony. Winning 44 games is going to be a bit tougher this year than it was last year in the East.

26.5 seems too low for Portland. If they stay healthy and one of those young bigs out-plays expectations, that will get steamrolled. That team is going to rebound.

McCollum's the X-factor(and possibly his durability), Crabbe can offer a deadly shooting 3-guard look for them.

I think we will see Lillard get "injured". Lillard and Simmons 2016.

I guess I'm the only one that thinks Utah at 40.5 is like SPOT ON where I would be nervous. Those line makers are amazing at times!

Nope buddy, I am on the same boat as you. We have three starters that play their asses off regularly, which means they could fall to injury just as easily. Two of our three studs are 7 footers, and when they go down, they go down hard.

I'm taking the under.

I'd put it at 42.5

I'd definitely take the under on the Lakers. Best bet imo. No way they win 30 games.

Cashed in my change and deposited it into my account and transferred it to my sister in Vegas.
Tomorrow she will place the bet for me.
Go Jazz!!!
(please)

Maybe I should make a trip to Nevada and place a bet.

So colton, what is the LDS Church's official stance on earnings won from sports wagering. Does one have to pay tithing on the winnings? Does paying tithing excuse the "sin" or am I permanently damned if I place a bet?

You keep your change in your wife's yellow toy?
Lol.
I ran out of room in my jar as was at my mother in laws house getting her clean her house out (she is a bit of a hoarder) and was going to throw out that crayon piggy bank and figured I would use it. (Knowing that I would be cashing in my change soon)

It is now in the garbage

First, perhaps you should ask what is the LDS Church's official stance on wagering, period, before you ask what the stance is on earnings from wagering. See here for that:

Tithing's always a personal decision. I have heard, though, that church leaders aren't supposed to accept tithing on gambling winnings. Don't know if that's policy or just someone's opinion, though. Besides, how would they know? It's not like you turn in pay stubs when you pay tithing.

I was just messing with you, colton. I know what the church's policy is. As tempting as it may be, I'm not going to give in. Knowing my luck, putting down $500 or $1,000 on Utah would immediately mean a death sentence (or at least a season-ending injury) to Hayward, Gobert or Favors. So for the greater good of the team - and to protect fishonjazz' money, I won't make a wager.
