We can chalk this up to preseason rust, but even that is on our players. Durant and Westbrook sure don't look rusty. They came into camp ready to play. Rudy looks like he's still doing yoga in the offseason. I feel like Burks is the only one who has really showed up ready to play.

Let's be honest here if Exum put up the exact same numbers this pre-season as Burke has, the Exum homers would be wetting themselves.

When Utah was going good in the 2nd half last year the best offense was created off their defense ,that's missing with Burke. The pace last night was dictated by OKC offense THAN Utah defensive pressure.That's the importance of Exum's impact .

It's quite true, but on the other hand they learn so much from that experience playing for the NT.

Buncha things;

- As much as fans would love to write that off as "just the preseason" Those Jazz players still have pride, their young and trying to prove themselves on a nightly basis - the way the 1st quarter played out I could just tell the Thunder were talking tons of ****, Jazz players were kinda hanging their heads about it too.. The Thunder clearly showed up gunning to drop 40 right away in that 1st, the defense couldn't slow them down at-all, they were just along for the ride...

-It's been said KD is one of the best trash-talkers in the league, because he tells you the truth.. I'm sure OKC was reminding the Jazz about their place in the west and the division during that 1st quarter.

- There wasn't some fiery response(in the first).. there was a what appeared to be a malaise. They recovered later on, but the Thunder beat the fight out of them early, got in their heads - not a good sign.

-A Healthy OKC team is no joke. It's in-part why I've been saying the Jazz might want to try and tank this year, something miraculous would need to take place for them to compete.

-(OT) Bruno Caboclo might turn into a decent option in defending Durant, I'd still pay a premium to trade for him, (check out his recent block on Karl Towns!)

- Getting obliterated on the boards like that is unacceptable. If that's commonplace it will be a struggle to get to 30-wins. Could've easily been more lopsided if Kanter was playing.. There was one out of area offensive rebound that Adams grabbed late, in Rudy's area that looked like he just wanted it more, I don't think we will see stuff like that in the Regular season - I hope.

-When Burks (or anyone on the team) is getting to the FT line at that rate... why not keep feeding em?!

- My favorite coaching moment was when Snyder was yelling at Ingles for trying to throw an over the shoulder pass to Rudy that was several feet behind his target, while the Jazz were getting stomped. That's when it most looked like a Playoff team vs one in the preseason going thru the motions..


- Whats with Rudy's FT's?? I'm beginning to worry he's regressed a bit/tinkered with his form for the worse. Is he rotating the ball a bit with his shooting hand while he brings it above his waist?? Saw him doing that at the FIBA tournament and thought it looked screwy.


- I don't really want to hear some **** about how they have the same team as last year.. That was by choice,the team isn't hamstrung by cap concerns... they could've went with better complimentary options than Ingles, Millsap and Pleiss (at the similar pay-grades). But instead they chose to be under-prepared for the west, and it came back to bite them 2½ months before the season even started.. (Its because they're prepared to tank..


- Trey Burke got punked by Ibaka in that 1st quarter, he got blocked how many times?! recovered for decent stats, his fingerprints were all over that slow start - There was a severe lack of assists by the Jazz too..


- With subpar defense at PG, the defense just isn't going to look the same, it puts more pressure on Favors and Gobert to help a split second faster, which results in them biting on pump fakes and quick dump-off passes to someone open around the rim..

- Of anyone guarding Westbrook last night, who had the best defensive possession? I'd say Alec, he picked his pocket right around that mid-range shot that Russell feasts on..

- This team just isn't built to hang with the playoff teams at full strength, the PG situation is just too easy to exploit. The death-knell for the Jazz playoff chances sounded 2½ months ago.. Not that Dante is some tremendous game-changer, he's just clearly better than what they've got now.

To add:

Rudy is being ignored on offense - they need to figure out how to get him involved, otherwise his overall game will suffer.

Favors either scores or gets fouled about 80% of the time when he gets the ball while moving to the basket. And yet they still insist that they run the majority of the plays for him where they try to post him up like he's some old school PF.

This Thunder team is about a 60 win team - Jazz lack of doing anything in the offseason coupled with drafting yet another teenager will come back to haunt them if they're serious about making a playoff run.

Burke is not a starting PG - we tried, he failed. Jazz need to look at other options. If he starts all 82, Jazz will struggle to win 40 games.

excellent point. This is the first issue we need to fix. Gotta get back to that identity from the second half of last year. Start from there.

I think there are legit areas to improve, legit critiques but yea there is some knee jerking.

Favors and Gobert are better rebounders than what they showed last night. So is the interior D.

But 3 point shooting continue to be a problem. It shows that the Jazz are not on the level of OKC, Warriors, Cavs and other elite teams but we already knew that.

Aside form the Jazz getting embarrassed the Jazz won or tied the other 3 quarters. Snyder has this team dialed in. He knows what needs to be fixed and I expect him to have them working on it.
Outside shooting has to be addressed.

I don't think I have ever said anything about "those 30 games"...

To be honest, I think a lot of positives came from last night's game.. it's good to have an eye opener like that for the squad, especially when the game doesn't even count. The quote from Quin I see as a big positive going forward really. The notion that we are "prepared to tank" because of these preseason outcomes is laughable.

Fair enough. But people are also judging this team a little harsh.

OKC is a favorite to get to the finals.

Jazz need to work on spacing, 3 point shooting, FTs and the PG position is weak. But we already knew all this.

What I saw is a championship quality team throw the first heavy punches and rock our team. Then I saw our team buckle down and hang with them thru 3 quarters. OKC is clearly the better team but I saw the progress the Jazz have made and that we still have a way to go.

It's not like we are all talking about the Jazz being a contender. We have been talking about the Jazz being the 8th or 7th seed. Jazz will have to fight for it and figure some things out (like those listed above) but it is doable. And I think they will.

the jazz haven't looked like a playoff team this preseason, even when you pick through the usual excuses about the preseason. I don't know what they're accomplishing in practice, however. Maybe Q is using these games to get reps for one-on-one skill development (it sure as hell looks like that)? But that seems like an odd thing to devote 90% of the preseason to.

Playing with the pass = fail. The offense has been bad.
Getting back to good form on defense = pretty much a fail.
Spacing = real bad.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to be worried, especially considering the gauntlet that is our early-season schedule.
