Official UofU homer thread

I guess I could see 4-3. Losses to USC, Oregon and ASU?

I didn't buy into Oregon at all. They just lost a top 3 QB in the history of college football (ok, top 10), had a suspect defense, problems on the OL and a small FCS transfer that was supposed to save them. I still had them at 9 wins, but they weren't your usual Oregon team. Utah getting them early...I liked Utah's chances.

Same with ASU. ASU had won the last two games by crazy situations. For example, we dropped two INT's and missed two FG's last year vs ASU. I didn't see them losing to ASU.

I picked Utah to lose to USC, so, yeah, I saw that coming. USC is USC and Utah would be in a place (highly ranked vs a down USC team) that they aren't used to. That game had loss written all over it. No biggie.

I just don't get 4-3 right now. Utah was good before the season began. Utah and USC finished last year 9-4. USC started out in the top 10...Utah started out unranked. Utah brought more players back. In fact, they really only lost Nate Orchard from last year. Utah should have started out top 15 in the preseason rankings.

I just don't see how Utah being 6-1 right now is any sort of a surprise. I also picked Stanford to win the North. Again, any sort of digging would show you that Oregon was flawed, Cal's schedule was just too tough.

Anyhow...whateve's....

I said all along we're not going undefeated so I'm not off the "bandwagon", losing to USC in cali is not the end of the season, we have a real chance at representing the Pac 12 in the CFP just need to handle business and win the south. At the end of the season losing to USC could be a turning point that we all look back on.

I don't think even the most deluded Ute fan expected to get through the whole season unscathed.

Utah is still in a great position. They still control their own destiny. If they can take care of business, they don't have to rely on anyone else.

The pebble is ours to snatch.

Hehe, you said snatch...

I'm usually called the most delusional fan...and I had us at 11-1.

Anyone watching The Drive?

I'm excited for tonight. I want to see what was said at halftime vs USC. I want to see what was said post game to the team.

I still put this loss 100% on the coaches, especially the two OC's. I want to see what everyone was like for that game.

I've said it before but someone may need to explain the offensive line as a position and as a group, I do not see how the U has a good one, almost every week in the PAC12 I am jealous of the other teams OLine. The U has what is supposed to be a dominate DLine and the majority of the games in the PAC12 it looks like the other teams OLine is blocking better, if Booker wasn't so damn awesome I'm not sure how many rushing yards they would get, is it just me or does it seem like WAY too often Booker or any running play there are 1 to 2 guys in the backfield and they have to make a man miss or break a tackle, the line of scrimmage seems WAY to often to be reestablished 1-2yrds in their own back field.

I also understand that I am likely being hyper overcritical.

*edit*
I believe the U's starting center was Aiono was out but my point still stands.

Utah looked good their first two possessions. Looked like it was going to be a runaway. Not so much, it turns out. A win is a win, but Utah should have dominated OSU.

Ya they should have dominated them by a little bit more than 26.5 points.

The Utes haven't really been a runaway scoring team. I heard the line early today and figured I'd take the under. Taking the under wouldn't even be betting against the Utes at 26.5.

Dat Oregon game doe

Plus the utes should have been pissed about last week and wanting to prove to the voters that last week was a fluke.
I was expecting them to come out mad and motivated and run up the score against a horrible team playing in front of the ute faithful at a blackout game.
Instead they were in a little danger of actually losing the game and all the stats, though in the utes favor, are very close.

I don't think they were ever in danger of losing, but their offense got really lax in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Their defense played well, as usual.
