What's new

*** Utah Jazz @ Detroit Pistons Wednesday October 28th 5:30 MT Official Game Thread***

Neto is still learning to play on offensive more. He can definitely give us more than 3s and assists-- he just needs to get used to the NBA game, and learn his spots. Which he will.

We simply need more from Burke.

Lyles was invisible, but he's a rook. Surprised to see no Pleiss out there tonight. Hayward never really took over-- but it was okay, because Burks and Hood did.

Before Burks took-over, I thought it was a meh game from him. Very meh defense, needs the ball in his hands a lot to be effective. But he really turned it the hell on in the 4th. Good quarter by him. I liked what I saw from Hood. Favors probably had the best game today. Great on both ends. Rudy needs to work on his finish.

Detroit are a lot better than a lot of people would have expected. Apparently Exum's defense not allowing the opposing PG to have their way was kind of important .....

holding a team to 95 points isn't bad.

I thought that was a good game from a learning standpoint. Both teams were feeling each other out for a while. The Jazz's best line-up is far and away the triple wing with Hayward, Hood and Burks, as they give use the best offensive options combined with Favors and Gobert on defense. If we'd played that line-up more, I think we would have won the game. All three of those wings can start at the 3-pt line, attack the close out and run a pick-and-roll.

Not sure we were not better with neto

It's not like Jackson played that well. It was just the FT disparity.

Also, what happened to going to Hayward in the post on Jackson? We do it 2 straight plays to open the game and never go back to it. Why not?

Again, the 3-wing lineup can be run for stints, but I highly doubt it ever picks the normality. No way is Burks playing more than 10 minutes at the 1 (which is what I had predicted for him) a game this season.

Heh that sentence hurt my eyes, but Neto was certainly solid, but having our 5 best players on the floor was simply the best line-up.

Edit: Agree with Dal, but at that moment in the 4th quarter we certainly needed our 5 best guys on the floor. I expect that to be a go to desperation line-up for us a lot of games.

Alec's rebounding impressed me tonight. I also thought that he pushed the pace well. Give neto 30 @ pg and give Burks the rest. Leave Burke in Detroit. Srsly just wish him luck and leave him at the arena.

this. What if we ended with Neto and Burks, didn't throw Hood in? Would we have given up that bucket to Jackson?

These are the questions we gotta ask when running 3 wings.

What was his line?

0 for 2 from the field and a +/- of -29 in just 16 minutes, including being outplayed by Steve Blake. He didn't get in the game in the 4th qtr.

Meanwhile, Neto in his first NBA game ever, pulls 8 pts and 3 assists on 3/6 shooting, including 2/2 from 3-pt range. He guarded both Reggie Jackson and Steve Blake pretty well. He ended with a +/- of +12.

Jazz are going to take awhile to get going. Gotta be patient. Sloppy game and lots of players out of place and confused. Played poorly and we were in it at the end. Burk had hit that shot right before. One play from a win is better than I expected when they were playing so poor. Hood and Burk are going to be great this season. Favors might be an all star this year. Especially if he can't get confident and score at the end of the games.

-29. holy ****.

yup. just 1 game. Still think Burke can be good for us this season. He's gotta bounce back, and I think he will.
