*** Utah Jazz @ Detroit Pistons Wednesday October 28th 5:30 MT Official Game Thread***

Odd game where we went one on one for quite awhile. Burks did great for awhile but could not keep going

Tough loss but I liked how the Jazz fought back. Our bench is still pretty thin. I liked Stanley Johnson in the draft and think he is going to be really good. Any contribution from Burke tonight would have been a victory. He was horrible. Jazz also missed Booker tonight. Favors looked like an All-star most of the game and then came back cold in the fourth.
Quinn kept out the starters too long in my book and I don't know why Neto wasn't guarding Jazz at the end. Hood has trouble keeping up with guards.

Alec needs to get back on defense but he was pretty tough down the stretch. Jazz need some more scoring off the bench. In my opinion our depth was hurt with Exum's injury. I think Neto is the backup when Exum comes back and Trey's days are numbered. I hope Trey can bounce back and give us some scoring off the bench.

Jazz let too many of these games get away from them last year, they need to not put themselves into these situations or they better start winning most of these games because the margin of error in the west is small.

Overall, I didn't expect them to win this game being it was on the road and game one jitters/rust always seem to derail the Jazz. Jazz need to weather the storm these first 12 games (9 road games) and not let a tough loss turn into 3 or 4 games. You don't want to bury yourself early in the season. Oh well on to the next game.

Hood had been doing the best job on Jackson all game. You don't remember teh 2nd quarter where Jackson was also burning Neto to get into the paint for floaters? That is how he hurt his knee. When Hood came in that **** stopped and the Jazz regained some control. There is no way that point was Hood's fault. Rudy has to be ready. Then someone has to dig in on Drummond. Worst case scenario is Drummond gets a dump off from Jackson and you hack a Drummond.

lol love seeing Burke hate. It'll make his emergence that much more satisfying.

Gonna go to work. Good game, excited for the season. Our defense is still for real FWIW (as we saw at the end of the 4th). Biggest, most important take-away for me.

Can you call him and talk him into making that emergence sooner rather than later?

Still, Gordon's clutch layup over Drummond was great.

It was the Boston game all over again.

Hayward gets a clutch basket. Rudy/Hood combine to give up an easy basket right back. Last time it was Rudy doing a terrible job covering the inbounder and Hood getting posted by Zeller. This time it was Hood playing soft D and Rudy being unaware.

when your boy wasn't on the floor ..

Maybe, but it would have been great to see him take it at Drummond on his heels. I know Drummond is a good interior defender, but put pressure on the refs to make a call.
I don't disagree that it would have been nice to see, but Quin draws it up, it works to perfection, the shot is there, you don't defy the coach.

Cy :(
Why did you make me remember that game after all those months?
I think we did not deserve to win todays game. Burks' shot was a good one. Didn't go in. Hope we can bounce back.

By the way, i just dont want to see Trey on the floor. If neto will make that open 3 like he did today, he should play all the way alongside burks or maybe even phil pressey. I'm tired of that burke crap.

I doubt Quin told him to take a shot like that, or at least not specifically. He probably just told him to make a play.

Nah he had a stretch where he was getting to the basket and getting calls, but then he kept going to that well and he stopped getting the calls. Adjusted though and played great down the final stretch.
Right, played well down the stretch. The comment was that he couldn't keep it going. He did keep it going - just missed a shot.

Hayward really let the refs take him out of the game. All those offensive fouls really frustrated Hayward.
