Opening Night Grades

Well, for last night one player that would have brought us the W is Dante Exum.

I think the player most affected by Exum's injury is Gobert.
Exum's height, length and speed made it hard for opposing PG's to see Gobert's second line of defense.PG's see where Gobert is now, where he's playing and adjust.Gobert feeds off his defense and blocks and feeds off his slam dunks. When he's engaged the Jazz are engaged emotionally.
The Jazz didn't have spark or play high energy.
Jazz are young and need an emotional high energy leader OR their a middle of the pack team subject to lose more close games than win them.

Quin's offense is utter ****e. Again. About the only nice thing he has added is holding a big at the FT line to bail out Burke and Neto on their penetration search dribble.

Bolerjack A++ called two long twos as threes in the first half and generally seemed confused by the whole game of basketball. He was in midseason form.

Called Alec Burks Trey Burke when Burke wasn't even on the floor. I get occasionally mixing up their names (not really, it isn't hard and it's the only team you cover) but come on. They don't even look a little bit alike.

Also F-- for Harpring defending no calls at the end of games. That behavior is one of the biggest problems with NBA officiating and he came down on the side of "they shouldn't do their job."

I have said it in other threads, this team has to play as a team on both ends to be successful. We need to be top 5 in assists. I love what Quin has done with defensive sets and starting Dante last year, but I do not like our offensive direction.

I liked Neto's jump shot. People said he couldn't shoot and it looks like he has good form. I also thought Jingles jump shot had a much quicker release than last season.

He has worked on it. He is very slow with it, but I love how calm and deliberate he is. I really don't think the kid has ever been coached up at all. We should have brought him over sooner to start his development.

Cotton (A+) - got off this sinking ship

Sir, can I ask why you are here? From the few posts that I've read of yours, it seems as though you are NOT a Jazz fan though I'm not sure if that's accurate. If it is, why continue to post on a message board of a team you don't like? If it's not and you are a fan of the team, were you happier when Corbin was at the helm or were you one of those folks that wanted to keep Sloan around?

I am not a Jazz fan (although I did buy a jersey). I don't understand why I am not allowed to post here though ?

Lol
Seriously though, I love his voice.

You are allowed.
I think he was asking why you would want to post here? I have never posted on a message board of any other team and never will. There is no point other than to just troll and be a dick

As far as I'm concerned you can post here as often and as much as you can. Nothing in my previous post alludes to anything different. I do, however, find it interesting that you would peruse and participate on the message board of a team you're not a fan of. But, no matter.

Is there a team you are a fan of?

GoFriars, you're getting a much more hospitable reception than the majority of our new posters. Cotton up and deal with it.

Fair enough. I will say I am a little disappointed how the Cotton experiment played out here. Of course we don't see what goes behind closed doors but I find it hard to believe in 15 nba games where he avg. 8 min. most of the fans are ready to write him off (despite him playing very well especially at the close of last season)... From watching Neto and Burke, I can confidently say I believe Cotton is by far the better long term player and also more exciting to watch but in short, I have watched Cotton for 5 years now through college and if you know his story, it is disappointing a team isn't giving him a real chance. I am 100% sure Cotton will make it in the NBA if he pursues that career path, and I am also positive you guys will regret waiving him. Alas, you are correct and I am not a Jazz fan and will not be posting here all year. I am positive in 2-3 weeks I will have forgotten about the entire ordeal and will not post anymore. I do however kind of want to see you guys regret letting him go ...

For a good laugh, I am a Knick fan.

Ok now I just feel sorry for you...
