Eating Processed Meat Causes Cancer

That's not quite what I meant. I believe we have knockout mice that age much more slowly than normal mice, but many of them do not have longer lifespans, because they still get cancers.

I still don't think so. For example, you can easily increase life span of mice by ~25% by simply restricting their calorie intake. There is also the issue with the definition of "long life", which is 3 years for mice. For that to be plausible, average mutation rates should be VASTLY larger in mice than humans, which doesn't seem to be the case.

ooh! a conversation about health and Genetics!! My favs.

while in a first degree of causation, health practices like diet and exercise and clean air and water might not seem to be directly linked to the genetic principles of reproduction or life maintenance, our modern food processors have introduced nitrates, antibiotics, anti-oxidants, and organic chemicals functioning as preservatives or flavor enhancers, or sugar-replacements, or even texture-enhancers, let alone "inert" fillers. . . . Not to mention chlorination, bleaches and such which result in contaminants of the chlorocarbon class. . .

So you got a choice. Go pick your own berries and maybe die of Bears, or go to the store and get cancer oh maybe twenty years from now. . . .
