GOP Debate Threads

You'd rather have our country bankrupted by a genius like Obama? Have you taken a look at the debt he's racked up? It's mind boggling!
I always see and hear things that say that obama has done a good job on the countries debt

I was just making a joke with the genius thing because the way you worded your post it sounded like you wanted to be bankrupted by a smart president.
Rather a smart one than a dumb one

If trustworthiness is your ultimate test for President, or any politician for that matter, you're kidding yourself.

It is not the ultimate test. There is no "ultimate test". But sometimes for one candidate you just cannot support them due to a specific issue.

For Huckabee it is because I think he is a religious bigot who would embrace a theocracy if he could. No thank you.

For Clinton it's because I find her extremely untrustworthy.

For Trump it is because he a megalomaniac and everything is about him. He'd use the office to get himself numerous shady deals.

There are plenty of people who are intelligent and disagree. I just think Ben Carson is a person who I don't agree with, in addition to being unintelligent.

Simple math is hard for him, and I don't want him bankrupting our country.

In the end, though, it is a moot point as he has 0 chance of winning a general election.

newsflash your country is already bankrupted.
more debt racked up in the last 7 years then EVER. but dont worry as obama said bush did it

Holy ****.

The current national debt is over $18 trillion dollars. You do the math. The media has a very liberal bias so this massive addition of debt has essentially been a non-story. When the same thing happens under a Republican president (for instance, Bush) the opposite is the case.

If the destination is the same the perceived intelligence of the driver doesn't matter. I would think you'd actually prefer the person who is not going to bankrupt the country, no matter how intelligent that person supposedly is.

But Bush DID do it. Or at least he was president when the **** hit the fan. It's amazing the denial Republicans have been in since that happened.

If I'm driving a car, and I wreck it. Then I hand you the keys. Is it your fault the car is in the shape it's in?

I've never seen something more delusionally retarded in my life. Ya, Obama didn't fix it. He might have made it worse. But that doesn't mean he caused the initial damage.

And before you reply. Look up cause and effect definition. The cause doesn't come after the effect. It comes before.

When did the economy start crashing? 2007/2008. When did bush leave office? Exactly.

It does matter though. Maybe the smart one spends lots of money, but it's spent on the right things while the dumb one spends on dumb things

Not all spending is the same

No doubt I would like to have an intelligent president, but more important than that is a president with good leadership and common sense, no matter how smart people perceive him to be. High IQ simply isn't the most important trait that we need in a president. We need someone who is good at finding and motivating a whole bunch of smart people, then getting them all on the same page to solve our problems together.

Lots of things are desirable in a president. I was simply saying smart > dumb if all other things are equal

And I was saying no bankruptcy > smart if all other things are equal.
It seemed that your point was smart = dumb if both are overspending.

My bad

Would you guys bet Rubio at 5:1 or Bush at 20:1 to be President? I know Bush seems like a dead man walking but these things can always turn around...and he's still a Bush and has name recognition for the GOP.

Bush doesn't even look like he wants it to me. Rubio is definitely going to fight.

I could've done Rubio last week at 7:1. Wish I had. To me, Clinto has no shot which then really only leaves Sanders imo and I just don't see a way this country elects a crazy, old dude Prez.

Your underestimating how much the media wants Clinton. She will be the nominee, and the vast majority of people will never even know that her honesty is even an issue. They will instead perceive that her opponent is mean and desperate for bringing it up repeatedly.

Check out this exchange between Charlie Rose and Rubio. How is it possible that Rose is so oblivious to this story? It's because the media is willingly ignoring it in order to support Hillary.

If you think the media is going to start reporting the actual story at this point even though the facts are available to anyone who wants to look a them, you are going to be proven wrong.

I wish Clinton had no shot but don't count her out. The Clintons are political powerhouses.

That's one way to look at it the other way is that Bush increased spe ding astronomically, so that was a bug deal and was reported a lot. Obama has not really increased spending, as spending growth has stayed essentially flat from the bush years. They both have done horrible jobs when compared with almost everyone that has been president in the history of the country. In fact, the three worst spenders in probably the history of the country were reagan, Bush 2, and Obama.
