Jabari Parker vs Rodney Hood

Lol.

I know what you are saying. Where you are picked doesn't mean much. But Cmon. Jabari is so much of a different player than Derrick Williams. It's not even close.

I'll bet you 500$ dollars Jabari ends up better than Derrick Williams and Rodney Hood.

Easy to say right now on Dwill 2.0 but dude was a great prospect. His numbers were phenomenal and he was a really good athlete. Dwill shot better from the perimeter than Jabari and was viewed as a two way guy. Easy to lol now.

I don't take bets from guys on the internet that can't put the dollar sign in the right spot.

I don't think you understand. Prospects come in all sorts of different strengths Some draft classes are a lot stronger than others.

Derrick Williams was relatively unknown. Then had 1 good season and got drafted 2nd overall in a weak draft.

Jabari was national phenomenon who has been making noise since he was a grade schooler. In fifth grade he had 5 Division 1 scholarship offers. He's played on older teams pretty much his whole life. He's had national recognition his whole life. He's got awards that Derrick Williams has never sniffed.

These are two completely different level of prospects. This stuff matters.

This whole Jabari hate/doubt thing that's been going on forever, reminds me of the Bryce Harper hate. They have a lot of similarities. I think it's as easy to see Jabari is going to be good, as it was to see Harper was going to be good.

Jabari is a special player. Is his chunky build a little bit of a concern? Yes, but what's makes him special is he's been ahead of the curve for so long. To me that says he's a little smarter than most players. So regardless if he's fat or not, he'll still be good. Smarts is what separates the good from the great. Jabari is plenty big and athletic enough to get the job done with what he has if he turns out to be a real cerebral player. That's what I see in him. Like Steph Curry kinda smart, but maybe not quite. Curry isn't just a shooter either, he's playing a slower game than everyone else.

Dwill had two good seasons. Jabari was a much more heralded prospect... so was Lance Stephenson... The 8th Grader... Born Ready. Austin Rivers crossed over John Wall.

Jonathon Bender was a heralded prospect that was derailed by injuries. I don't really care how good Parker was in fifth grade... there are several things that make him a risk and are comparable to players who have failed recently.

Steph has amazing work ethic and is possibly the most unique player ever. No question he is one of the smartest guys in the game. I don't know that Rodney and Jabari are all that different in the BBall IQ department. I don't see Jabari as a savant.

Those type of things, the history, the track record, that's stuff does matter, and does say something about players. Is it always a sure thing? No, but it certainly increases the odds that Jabari will be good. NBA teams Look very closely at this stuff before they draft. It matters to them too. I'd be willing to bet that hands down every single GM in the league would choose Jabari over Hood and Derrick Williams in a rookie draft, right now, in two years, and most likely beyond, and a lot of it will have to do with what he did when he was younger.

Hood destroyed Jabari in Summer League last year. That means he's better. I mean, if you look at history, Greg Ostertag made Tim Duncan look like a complete bust in Summer League and that turned out to be almost prophetic, remember?

Seriously though, they are both good players in their own right. I love Rodney Hood, the dude is fearless and has a great shot. He just seems smooth on the court, never in a hurry, always collected and poised.

I'm sure Jabari will be a phenom if he puts his mind to it. The guy has simply excelled passed his peers at every level of basketball he has played. That is not easy to do. With that being said, I'm very happy Hood fell to us in the draft, we got a steal there for sure.

Carlos Boozer says hi buddy.
Maybe I stated that wrong. I don't think players who sucks at defense are any good. I don't really even like players that don't play defense. But for how he'll be viewed in a few years, he will probably be viewed as a really good player. Harden isn't known for great defense. Love isn't either, Carmelo, etc..

Love me some Hood..

BUT, wow, the homerism is strong today. Hood over Jabari straight up? Ouch, no, never...

We got a steal with Hood, but lets not be silly people.

No thanks.

I was never a huge supporter of his. I feel lucky the Jazz were able to draft him. If he ever becomes as consistent a shooter we all feel he should be, sky's the limit for him.
