The jazz offense seems like it could use a player who can break down the defense and get in the paint

Gobert gets mugged on every rebound.
I think the jazz really do get screwed by the refs more than any other team

Favors is so money from mid-range

Come on Hayward

Is alec in the doghouse for some reason?

another game, another stint shooting 50% from the field by Burke. Schröder shoots 30%.

If Trey keeps this going he'll have a long career as a solid backup. Amazing what playing within your limitations / strengths does.

if he keeps playing like this, he won't be a backup. Find me a list of 3rd year PGs with Burke's numbers that didn't end up starting elsewhere. It's quite insane what he's managed to do these first 10 games of the season-- I guess it shows you the power of prayer ;) #BJB

It also begs the question of whether Burke will continue to come off the bench. He seems to be playing well with everyone out there, really. I guess it depends on Raul's development. If he can at least carve an Exum-esque role from last year, Burke will continue to be our stud off the bench with Alec.

It doesn't seem to me that he is playing much differently. He is simply making shots now

The biggest change I've noticed is that he'll often get into the paint, and hold his dribble before gunning for a lay-up. This hesitation kinda stalls the opposing defense, and it usually either frees up a big man, or opens a lane for Burke to hit a floater or a lay-up. Otherwise, you're right. He's still driving to the hoop similarly (but way, way quicker). And his three point shots are taken similarly

Ya he has added little tweaks to his game (better on defense imo) but honestly every player looks allot better when they make shots.
Before this year his shooting percentages were really bad and he was not getting many assists so I hated on him.
This year his shooting percentages are incredible (still not getting assists) and I'm loving him. Sometimes it really is just as simple as shots going in or not.

Until the other trey on the team starts to shoot a good percentage I will probably continue to dislike his game too

thats true man. Burke's old percentages were just embarrassing. It's a relief that he's been hitting shots at a way better clip. I think Burke had 16 games last year shooting 50%? I think he's already at 7 games this year, out of 10 (off the top of my head). It's crazy

Dude he's not dribbling for 20 secs and then heaving up an off balance long 2 pt shot very often. Not sure if it's his choosing or Quin is putting him in positions to best utilize his skill set but to me his current play seems sustainable because he's taking much better shots.

Really don't think he's starter material for a good team tho.

Trey has a PER of 18.78. Good enough for 60th and 2nd best of all Jazz players behind only Favors. He is 12th for point guards. Dude is playing well and the stats back it up. Hope he keeps it up.

I vote for option C, go get a starter capable PG. The Jazz can afford an overpaid one so shouldn't need to give much up in assets. Brooklyn should be going into tank mode soon and Jarret Jack could be available in a month.

Man i'm not sure we should grab a 32 year old PG shooting 39% from the field and 32% from 3, even though he can't defend

I'd add he's also doing it with personnel that's doesn't fit his skilkset. He not really playing with floor spacers or high flying finishers. If that isn't enough he's doing so with limited minutes. Things change and player streak and slump, but as of right now Burke is a top 3 player on this team. I'd say he's 2nd only to Favors.

The Jazz need another point guard so that Burke can go to the starting lineup without seeing our second unit fall apart. We lost so many games in Q2 last year, and Burke is winning those now. I'd rather see the starting 4 continue to mask Neto's weaknesses but would be great to get Trey rockin with the starting 5.

Trey is playing well, above expectations, but c'mon, he's not the second best player on the team. There are at least five other guys ahead of him.
