GVC still working that DL is overrated shtick I see. He must have missed Jeff Van Gundy showering him with praise recently.
Keep in mind, Dal was raised in an authoritarian culture. It's not really his fault.Well if JVG said it, then.....
Portland didn't offer a max contact just to screw okc. If that was the case they wouldn't have structured a contract making it harder to match. They wanted Kanter. Both teams wanted Kanter along with many other teams. OKC had a decent offer for Kanter just below max so they would have paid him a lot either way. I know it's hard but many teams in the NBA like/liked Kanter and wanted to pay him. He does some things very well. There is more to this but it's not big picture to think Portland only signed him to screw another team and had no interest in him or thought there wasn't a chance of him not being matched.I think you are overlooking the big picture. I believe that Portland made the max offer because they knew OKC had to match. They were simply putting the hurt on a rival. OKC matched because they had to if they wanted any hope of keeping Durrant. Kanter was in the fortunate position of being their only real option.
It seems crazy that some people think the Jazz should have gotten more in this trade. If more was available don't you think they would have taken it?
This is just unacceptable. You're either a lover or a hater. There's no room for limp-wristed nuance on Jazzfanz. That doesn't mean they haven't done other things well or the team isn't better without him.

I was being far more bigoted than that. Plus, Canada doesn't really have a culture. Well...I guess Alberta has American culture.Canada?

He's not nearly cool enough to be Canadian. Is that you?
Is that you?
Better than being a complete ****ing moron.
Next, jazz should have traded kanter earlier when he requested trades internally before he forced jazz hand and lowered his value. Secondly there were other offers but jazz thought that both players they got had potential and could work out at the time. They were wrong, the other offers were probably better looking back. Either way they miss handled the situation and the player. That doesn't mean they haven't done other things well or the team isn't better without him.

"I know you are but what am I" has always been one of my favorite comebacks. Real high brow stuff.and yet you manage the impressive feat of being both !!! Sterling work Sir !!

As far as Al and Millsap go. I was happy to just see them walk. They weren't going to help us win a title, plus it would've been hard to resign our core taking on extra contract$. We can't just be turning over our team every few years or we become the Knicks or clips from yester-year. It takes lots of team chemistry to be a contender. Look at the Stockton and Malone years. How long did it take them to make a finals?I seriously doubt DL was sitting on hands with these guys. But it is also very clear that he was not going to take people in return who took up a lot of cap space unless they were young and could be part of the rebuild process. That works for me.
Exactly!!!The Thunder were "proactive" when they traded Jeff Green and Nenad Kristic for Kendrick Perkins, Nazr Mohammed, and Nate Robinson and ate up all their cap flexibility they needed to resign James Harden.
The Jazz as a small market can't afford to just give into demands to be traded as it sets a precedence for all small market teams being held captive by their starsNext, jazz should have traded kanter earlier when he requested trades internally before he forced jazz hand and lowered his value. You've yet to contribute anything of substance to this thread. I'm more than willing to have a respectful discussion, as I think I've shown with spycam and mdav. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with the consensus view, or in explaining why you disagree with it. You're welcome at the grownup table whenever you're ready. You might start by reading what I've actually written, and considering the arguments I've made. Your gross mischaracterizations of my arguments reflect very poorly on you.Whoops, GVC did a neg. Guess that means he's taking his ball and going home rather than trying to rationalize his "Jazz/DL suxorz" argument.
Pretty reasonable. How excited is the fanbase about the team if that's how it played out?The big dirty secret is that if Gobert doesn't become what he became as soon as he did, we were likely going to resign Kanter.
