Gawd No Another Trade Thread

We aren't winning the championship this year, so why do we give up a 20-year old who (despite the early struggles) has potential for a half-year rental? I don't like that part. If we throw in picks, too, then I hate it worse.

I feel ya, but let's be honest: there's a chance that Lyles, the OKC pick, and the GS pick turn out to be a big pile of nothing.

Anderson would be a perfect fit, and we'd probably have a better chance at pitching the idea of a long term deal with us by trading for him now (or at the deadline) than we would by waiting until next summer.

Holiday helps shore up the PG situation for this season. And there's a chance he starts to pick up his play again (he's still only 25). Plus, I could see him fitting into the long term plans with Exum.

This would definitely be a tempting deal.

New Orleans would never do this. They would laugh at this.

They decide to blow it up who is giving them more for a guy on an expiring deal and a guy who can't log a ton of minutes. How many teams even need pg help. They don't have to move Holiday, but I doubt NO gets a first round pick for Anderson. They may not do it but it is not laughable.

Seems pretty laughable to me. I'd do it 8 days a week, but I probably irrationally dislike Troy Lulz.

They can't get a 1st round pick for one of the best big man shooters in teh NBA? Have you seen his last 3 games? I'm sure they will give him to a conference rival (for the last playoff spots) for pennies on the dollar. Jrue Holiday? 2 years left on a great contract? Yeah, give us nothing for him?

This is one of those trades the other team post on their board and laughs at. Like how Boston wanted us to trade them Favors for nothing.

Wasn't the over/under 40.5? We won 38 games last year. Not hard to believe that this team is slightly improved.
When I placed the bet it was 41.5
I'm still quite confident.... As long as we stay healthy

our health needs to be almost 100%.

An injury to Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Hood, or Burke would seriously hamper this team. In other words, we're supremely vulnerable to injury.

Had to let that cakk bakk, doe. We have too much talent already.

Depends on how major the injury too.
We could miss Hayward, Burks, or hood for a few weeks.

Hood and Gobert have already missed games due to injury, favors missed games due to the flu, yet we are still on pace for me to win the bet even though the schedule has been very road heavy

Plus guys like neto and lyles should hopefully develop along the way (withey and pleiss too) making our depth better

My dad and I went in on it too... I'm not sure why all the worry. We've had a tough schedule, have been very close in nearly every game, and haven't really had Hayward click in like we hope he can. Almost every team in the league has a guy that if they get hurt they are kind of in a tough spot. We are totally fine here.

Agreed

Yeah, I would have taken that bet too.

I don't think it's at all far fetched to think we could be four games better than last year (a year in which **** Kancer started over half the season). I also think there's more overall parity in the league this year, which would help our chances of an improved record.

Unless Favors, Gobert, or Hayward have crazy injuries, I'd be surprised if we don't make the over.

Trey Lyles was a lotto pick (he still has value even though he's been bad), $7M in savings this year, additional cap space next year, they tank the season this year to add some young top tier talent. I said I'd add the OKC pick as well... that is not nothing.

Both of these players carry significant injury risk which hurts their value... significantly. Guys in last year's of their contract typically don't fetch first round picks and it is tough to say Jrue's contract is great when he has an injury that has had him miss most of the last two years and on a significant minutes restriction now.

Look at trade history... Jeff Green netted a protected first rounder from a playoff team when he was traded (he had two years left on his deal). Thad Young got less at the deadline for MN, but there were circumstances there. Isiah Thomas a healthy productive player on an amazing contract got a first rounder.

Not saying they couldn't do better, but it is not "nothing" or "laughable" as you suggest... I would expect nothing less though from the board's contrarian that wanted to give up Lyles, a first, and contract fodder for the perpetually hurt Wilson Chandler.

I think when we hit the dog days of the season we will really make some hay... Teams won't want to grind with us and we can get some easy ones.
