Jazz getting flooded with offers, possibly looking at Thabeet?

"The Utah Jazz shocked the NBA on Wednesday by sending Deron Williams to the New Jersey Nets for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and a couple of first-round draft picks.

The move means the Jazz are essentially rebooting midseason. Are they done dealing?

While the Jazz don't want to dismantle the entire team, they are listening for offers for everyone, according to a Jazz source.

That should be music to the ears of a number of teams. Today I've spoken with several GMs who put in calls to the Jazz within minutes of hearing about the Williams trade.

Who are they after? In particular, Paul Millsap and Andrei Kirilenko are coveted.

The Jazz won't just give either player away. They don't think Derrick Favors is ready to play heavy minutes at the 4, and they want to bring him along slowly. They also want to give new coach Tyrone Corbin a team he can compete with. But if the Jazz can get back players and cap savings, they might be willing to deal.

The Jazz have a payroll of $75.2 million, putting them roughly $4.9 million over the luxury tax line this season. So if they can make trades that get them under the $70.3 million tax threshold, that would be a big incentive. In terms of what else they want in return, the Jazz are looking for a dynamic 2-guard and additional help up front.

While it's "unlikely," according to a Jazz source, that Utah makes a big trade involving Millsap and/or Kirilenko, there are other, smaller moves possible as well. For instance, sources say the team has interest in Memphis big man Hasheem Thabeet."

Didn't we just blow up the team?

I have to say, I would actually be more upset to hear that they traded Milsap than anyone. He's a little under-sized, but I love his game. That 46 point gagillion-overtime game earlier this season was a highlight of any season.

And I'd actually like to see AK stay, come back with a much lower salary, and be the kind of rotation player he can be at his best at this point in his career.

Guys, guys, guys, hold your horses. Some of you are thinking that we are actually going to be getting some value out of these trade offers we were flooded with. Get real! Other GMs saw KOC's incompetence, when he gave up his only superstar for chump change, and want to rape old KOC even more before he comes to his senses. Basically, if we got 10-15 cents on a dollar in Williams trade, offers now must be 5-10 cents on a dollar. Let's hope old KOC did not go senile enough to accept these.

Fire sale!

Nevermind on Thabeet. Kid's 23 already and his stats blow this year.

I don't know if this is sarcastic or not, but I have not seen Thabeet play at all the past couple of years. All I've seen is his stats and the stories about him being sent to the D-league.

So my question is...what differentiates Thabeet from Fes besides skin color? Why trade for him?

Nice try at the race card. Disgusting.
