Following 2016 potential draftees

Jazz 2nd round pick Olivier Hanlan has been solid so far for Zalgiris. Here's highlights of his 21 pt game last week. on 7/11 from the floor.

Michigan St vs Providence will be a good game. Is Dunn good enough to put the team on his back and pull off the upset?

Pleiss is guaranteed next year too.

I said able bodies.

I would say Burke can almost play some SG next to players like Exum and Burks, so there might be room for a PG...I'd also say you could look at a SG to develop because Hood can easily flex to SF, so can Alec.

Maybe for the pg. Exum will be back. Neto should be better. We have Burke of course too. So all that makes me lean toward no but if we could get some 34 year old vet who is willing to just be a leader, sit the bench and play 15 minutes in case of injury, then I'd say yes. Kirk Hinrich who's a UFA comes to mind. Maybe Jarrett Jack if we're looking for more of an offensive-minded guy. He too is a FA. Regarding the 2. Slide Burke to SG all you want but then we'd have Burke, Hood, Burks, Hayward, and the draft pick you mentioned who can play the 2. That's unnecessary redundancy.

A 3/4 versatile type near 6'10 that can play on-ball defense would fit IMO.
Agreed but I think this is what Lyles could become.

A 4/5 works. So does a pure 4 as a development project if Lyles shows he's ready for backup minutes by the end of the season. (JONATHAN JEANNE!!)

A pure 5 to develop makes tons of sense too. Good young C's are great pieces to trade for proven vets, there will always be a scarcity of talented 7-footers, many teams don't have even one.. Obviously we've all seen the upside of taking a flier on Gobert. The Jazz are still in a position to horde assets, IMO developing another C to showcase and drum up trade value for behind Rudy, is a no-brainer.

Agreed. Big time. There also seems to be a decent amount of these 4/5 types this draft.

Jarrett Jack isn't going to sign with Utah unless he has a chance to win the starting job. Pretty sure the Nets will re-sign him.

I don't see the need for a Kirk Hinrich type vet either. I say load up on young talent and go to war, fill the roster 1 thru 15 with assets that have potential to appreciate -- the squad will still be competitive.

Lyles is a pretty crappy defender

I said able bodies.

The thing about Lyles is that his defense isn't all that bad, he is just a terrible post defender so he is easy to expose (especially when he plays next to Booker). I think he has done a solid job defending PF's out on the perimeter.

Deyonta Davis from MSU is averaging something like 20,10, 5.5blks per 36 mins on 65% from the field and 75% from the line. I'd like to see him declare and get drafted in the 2nd round by Utah tbh, give him a Jordan Mickey contract. He might have one-and-done 1st round talent though, part depends on how tall he is.

DX has Davis underrated as the 32nd best freshman.

#15 Oregon about to tip off vs 5-0 Fresno St. Watch Tyler Dorsey, Dillon Brooks and Chris Boucher, it's early but they appear built for the tournament. Boucher is the x-factor. Dorsey and Brooks are young but I'd trust them to ice games. Dorsey was $$ vs a superior Team USA squad.

Sluggish start from UK so far down 27-24 to Illinois St with 3 minutes to go in the 1st. Without Briscoe it'd be a double digit deficit.

Charles Matthews has been particularly mistake prone, he's gotta keep an eye out for defenders better.

Skals been invisible and Murray has made some dumb TO's and was gifted 3 ft's because of a terrible call and a terrible flop/acting job, shame on that ref.

In this LSU loss to College of Charleston, Simmons was 4/15 from the field for 15 points, 18 rebounds(His rebounding #'s have been off the charts -- No one could've expected this) 4 assists, 1stl, 1 blk and 7 turnovers..

Antonio Blakeney with an absolute no-show 0-9 from the field. There's officially no good reason to have him in the 1st round. Brandon Sampson with a no-show also.

Tim Quarterman's FG% and FT% are worth keeping an eye on. Not sure if there's any reason to keep him in the 1st round.

I'm shocked - I thought LSU was going to be better than this. Surely no Lebron led college team, with a 5-star SG like Blakeney flanking him would've lost to Charleston..... Even with all those boards from Ben LSU got out rebounded..

Just caught a Rutgers-Wake Forest replay.

-Devin Thomas could play the role of a lesser Trevor Booker enforcer type from day 1 on the Jazz, as a rookie 2nd round pick. He's really productive 8.6 FT attempts to 12.6 FGA's(which he converts at 53%) is a great ratio, if he can keep doing anywhere near that, plus the rebounding (11.3 per game) some team will take a flier in the 2nd round. 4 year senior, turns 22 in May. His sister Allysa Thomas was the #4 pick in the WNBA draft in 2014.

-Mitiglou with a poor performance. Only 28% from 3 so far on 5 attempts. He's a sophomore but younger than many Freshman. So there's no rush for him to declare this year if he continues as is. I'd imagine he will get offers to play pro back in Greece in the offseason though.

-Wake Forest has a freshman John Collins, who they list at 6'10 that looks like one to watch moving forward. He's been blocking shots and grabbing boards at a high rate in limited minutes. Looks to have some shooting touch too. Doral Moore's a 7-footer who can run and block shots so he remains worth keeping an eye on, shows some shooting touch too.

-Corey Sanders, Rutgers best recruit in eons really looks a good bit less reckless than advertised. He's got some passing instincts. He will prove to be a great pull for the Scarlet Knights. 6'2 and built like a tank, he can really jump too. He's gotta improve his shooting and he will really be capable of scoring in the big ten. If he can handle conference play as a freshman that bodes well for the Knights next year.
