The jury convicted both of the Hammonds of using fire to destroy federal property for a 2001 arson known as the Hardie-Hammond Fire, located in the Steens Mountain Cooperative Management and Protection Area. Witnesses at trial, including a relative of the Hammonds, testified the arson occurred shortly after Steven Hammond and his hunting party illegally slaughtered several deer on BLM property. Jurors were told that Steven Hammond handed out “Strike Anywhere” matches with instructions that they be lit and dropped on the ground because they were going to “light up the whole country on fire.” One witness testified that he barely escaped the eight to ten foot high flames caused by the arson. The fire consumed 139 acres of public land and destroyed all evidence of the game violations. After committing the arson, Steven Hammond called the BLM office in Burns, Oregon and claimed the fire was started on Hammond property to burn off invasive species and had inadvertently burned onto public lands. Dwight and Steven Hammond told one of their relatives to keep his mouth shut and that nobody needed to know about the fire.

Again, I don't see terrorism. But they are arsonists, and they are arguably guilty of criminal negligence, maybe even attempted murder/manslaughter by not being safe with how they started the fire. They might also be guilty of running a poaching ring, tampering of evidence, and obstruction of justice.

It should be seen, however, that the Hammond party have told the Bundy camp to go home, and they don't want to be associated with them. They deserve credit for that.

Agreed. As have most of the militia supporters that the Hammonds have. This grouup at the federal property ssesm to be the hardliners with ulterior motives. I wonder if there was a falling out between the two groups.

I've reported three of his posts today. All with valid complaints. The expectation from the nonmodsquad has already been set; they're not gonna do ****. Like sissy *** district attorneys that won't even touch a case until it's a slam dunk.

That being said, I did get a sizable raise recently for my electronic sepsis protocol, citing intuitive controls, patient safety, and real dollar value saved. So although I said it with a jocular twist, it's quantifiably true.

I'm actually pretty interested in this news story. And I'm finding the reporting on it to be mostly trash. Can anybody provide links to what they feel are good accounts? rep forthcoming.

I think I've earned the right to bitch about #unmodsquad. But if someone was constantly slandering your name, you went out of your way to avoid them, used the ignore button only to find that you'll still see what they say one way or another, and then reported a bunch of rule violations only to be ignored, wouldn't you be pissed?

You don't know nothing's been done. You just a assume that since NAOS still posts. But if we hit NAOS for everything you want, enforce things how you want, you wouldn't be here either.

There's a reason I reported myself the only time I actually attacked the blowhard. I deserved it. I'm honest about it. In the greatest trolljob ever, I got Ftroupe to leave the board. I've purposefully violated trolling rules to that extent, started a new thread in GD to admit/brag about it. Hell, I TOLD YOU to ban me, and you didn't. I purposefully didn't visit the site for 10 days, as I expected it to be done. It wasn't.

If that's how #unmodsquad wants to run, that's cool. We can do this. But if you ban me for something you don't ban others for, you'll be fitting the hypocrite pants. And I want to make sure everyone knows about it beforehand.
